Figured I'd share another one of my little hobby projects - though this one might go a little while longer between updates... A while back I dug out my old Hero Quest set form way back before I lost (and found again) my interest in miniatures :-) I always considered the plastic part for the furniture rather nice, but the cardboard parts really let them down... So after seeing a few talented people here on this forum and elsewhere improving or reinventing those pieces, I thought I'd do the same... That let to tables, chests, etc. being recreated with real boards and sculpting bits and pieces from milliput, green stuff, and tiny rocks mixed with PVA, some spray painting and washing... And a lot work still left to do :-) So far the only piece I've got done is the tomb: The base is milliput shaped nice and evenly over cardboard with a few plastic bits stuck into it. The rest are waiting along with lots of miniatures in various stages of painting: I'm thinking of printing a copy of the picture from the original cardboard fireplace, framing it and mounting it in its proper place... Or maybe running it through like a sepia filter or something before printing ;-) I hope to find time in the near future to work on these some - and shoot some nice pics of them to share with you good folks :-)

I did this a while ago too. I redid the cardboard parts with wood. Craft sticks fit in the slots where the cardboard pieces fit.

Finished a few more pieces :-) The tables really just got the wood color and a wash. The locks and hinges are sculpted on. The padding is a small piece of red fabric with stitching drawn on in 0.1 mm black technical marker. While it hardly shows, there is also a hint of gold painted on the edge of the fabric. I glued it to a piece of paper before cutting it to the final size to improve the precision of the cut. This one is a ways from being done yet, but I think the wood, the green surface, and the steel rim works for me. It is still in need of some clean up as well as color on quite a few little parts. These are not Hero Quest pieces, but they got done in the same round of painting :-) I can't remember where I got them, but they are resin casts.

Made progress on a few more pieces today. The altar is mostly done - I've got a piece that goes in the bottom instead of the standard cardboard thingy that still needs a bit of work (it's made to look like stacked small rocks and they need some drybrushing still), but I think the top part is close to good enough. And here among various other works in progress, the desk is coming along nicely, but still needs some more detailing.
