Love it What are those lil blue guys? Those skull fire pits are awesome The blue guys are unpainted "blazing skeletons" from the Castle Ravenloft boardgame. I bought them loose from a reseller. I didn't paint them because I have painted ones and the clear blue looks "frozen." The firepits worked out great. I'm very happy with the effect. Printed the pits in black, drybrushed with grey, printed the flames in translucent PLA. Really great combo 3D printed project. They flicker nicely too...

I have translucent filament and tea lights So awesome! Can you explain the technique you used to paint the translucent flame thingies?

The tealight does all the work.

Wilmanric, did you resize those flames? I printed a firepit today in black and it came out perfect. Tealight fits in it great. I switched to translucent filament and started printing the flames and realized it was printing them larger than the firepit base. I didn't do any modifications to it, I just assumed they were sized properly.

Yeah I dont know if he changed the models but I definitely had to resize the flames. The original file was something like 79mm. Had to resize it to 37mm and it came out great. The clear translucent that I had works in a pinch but I would like more of an orange translucent to print more of these. Anyways thanks, been looking for something to do with these dollar store tealights I picked up last year.

I'm thinking about buy that Castle Ravenloft board game for $45 (including shipping). Comes with a lot of minis that could be used in Frostgrave: Spiders, Wolves, Werewolf, Vampire, Wraiths, Skeletons, Flesh Golem, Ghouls, Zombies.. The gargoyles could be used for the Imps. Perhaps a couple heroes could be used as well for wizard/soldier. Here is a great page that shows everything that comes in the box. It's a painting guide with well painted minis. blog.gamesparadise.com.au/2011/09/ravenloft-painting-guide/I wonder if the board game is fun to play.

So so. Not as good as the actual module or Ravenloft in general. Also, very very poor depiction of Strahd (5e doesn't do much better...kinda laughable really).

I may have done some scaling of the flames at the printer, but I can't say for sure. Sorry about the wasted time and filament. I'll look at them again and maybe upload an accurate .stl.

Oh no worries, it wasn't a big deal. As soon as it started printing I realized the size was off. It maybe printed 2 layers.
