Hello all, I'm new to this forum, I have seen a lot of DM Scotty's videos that have peaked my interest in making my own tiles, décor, and other landscape features.I hope that I will be as good on my projects as I have seen a few of the other projects that some of you have posted. If any of you could share some insight as to what the best material to get for crafting.
I will keep you all posted on how my projects are going, as well I will share in new items that I find that could be used for projects to come. Best of luck on all your project, find all the loot that you can.

Which materials depends on what you want to make, how sturdy it has to be, and how much storage space you have. Both DM Scotty and the DMG have videos about tools and materials, which you may have already seen, that are more detailed than my remarks here.
Mostly folks here use cardboard, cardstock, the cheap foamcore from the dollar stores [which you can peel the paper off of more easily than the more expensive stuff], hot glue, white glue, cheap acrylic paint, cheap builder's sand, and popsicle sticks. You can buy regular popsicle sticks and sometimes the smaller popsicle sticks at dollar stores, too. The wider tongue depressor-sized sticks have to be purchased at a craft store, which makes them more expensive. But many people never use those at all.
If you are planning on more elaborate terrain, leaning towards the war-gaming side of terrain-building, then you might want to look around for some scraps of foam insulation board to try out. Where I live, it's mostly pink, but it can be blue, too.
If you prefer, you can use 1/4-inch by 1/4-inch basswood sticks for things like 2.5D Next wall sets, instead of foamcore and cardboard. Wood sticks are sturdier, but more expensive and a bit less stone-looking, since they have angular edges.
Again, it really depends on what you want to do, but you can't go wrong with recycled cardboard and cheap foamcore when you are starting out. Oh and printer paper, for the times you want to make characters, monsters, or buildings from all the lovely print-ready files you can find on the Internet.
Welcome, and I am looking forward to seeing your future posts.
EDIT Sorry I omitted the "4" from the second "1/4-inch" above. Fixed now

Welcome to the forums. As others have said, the materials depend on what you're trying to do. Main thing, find a style you like and keep to it, also, experiment if you can afford to do it. You'll be surprised what you come up with when you try new things.
