Hey everyone. I have dabbled in war gaming off and on over the years. But my favorite part was always painting the figures.
One year I wanted to reenact the battle of Minas tirith so my father (a construction worker) surprisingly agreed to help me build it. Using pink foam, plastic gutter piping cut to size and a bunch of other odds and ends I built it.
It's huge, crappy, but something I treasure.
Now in my mid 20's with a few different degrees (one including illustration) I've decided to jump back into it to add life to a pathfinder game I hope to run in a month or so.
I have tons of questions, some I may lost in this post later, but I look forward to crafting some awesome stuffď

Welcome to the forum! You will find lots and lots of advice and options if you poke around in the past threads, as well as checking out DM Scotty's videos.
Be sure and check out the 2.5D Next section if you don't have a lot of storage space. 2.5D Next walls combined with mats or some kind of table cover give a quick and easily stored start while you are considering what you might like best of the other terrain options. You can easily add lots of the interesting "scatter" pieces like those that folks have posted on these forums, and those are always usable, even if you go for an elaborate, Hirst-style dungeon in the future.
I look forward to seeing what you decide to make.

Thank you!
Right now I'm working on coming up with the settings I'll need for the next campaign (at least the start of it) and plan to build it from there.
I work in the vinyl area of my work so my plan is to make my own mats and print them on our banner material. It's durable, can be folded/rolled, and has a nice feel to it. My plan is to make different textures (rock, grass /greenery, etc) and have a grid. Then I will place full fledged 3d objects on top of that.
My first ambitious project will be a 2 story tavern.
My goal is to make these 3d pieces generic enough to the campaign that I can re use them a few times.
I've also got some ideas that I want to try once I get underway. One is placing metal in the walls of my crafts so I can attach pieces like shelves paintings etc to it with small magnets.
But that's going to be a bit down the road.
