Hello everyone. I figured I should introduce myself. (And a short rantish).
My name is John. I've been gaming for a few decades now and recently came across the DMscraft. The list of rpgs under my belt is far to long to list, especially if you consider new editions and variants by different companies). My favorite games are Pathfinder, Alternity, and the Classic (FASERIP) Marvel Superheroes.
I do have a bit of a rant, it also ties into how I became aware of Dm Scotty. I've gone through a rough divorce last year, not going into details, but it led to me moving to a new city and looking for a new group. A few months ago I went to a local gaming store and had a potential new group. Unfortunately the group didn't work out. As soon as I laid my first "tilescape" tile on the table one of the players said something to the effect of "cool, you use DmScotty's 2.5d tiles too." (At this point, I had never heard of DmScotty or his methods. The tiles I was using for this game were from cardboard and foamcore built the way I have for decades. My old group called them tilescape because we were kids and thought it sounded cool.) After asking who DmScotty was and getting yelled at by the player (apparently DmScotty claims to be the originator of this whole cardboard tile gaming thing.) The game turned into half the table accusing me of trying to steal Scotty's stuff and take credit for it myself. And, the other half was defending me or at least the idea that we could both design similar systems without being aware of the other. As I was on my way out the door one of the players that defended me told me to look him up on YouTube. I did and that also led me to the DMG and Wyloch. All awesome and I've learned techniques and ideas that I may not have considered otherwise.
Despite any issues I had on the road to get here, I hope to be constructive member of this forum.

Doesn't matter how you got here or who made what first. Just glad you found your way to the forum and have found the videos inspiring! There are a crap ton of posts to draw from. Also check out black magic craft videos. I totally used his vids to build a boat and his cavern tiles. Put some pics up of your stuff you made before watching scotty. That would be neat to see. Cheers and happy gaming.

I think the idea is being continuously re-invented - I found Wyloch's Armory when I had and idea of making reusable magnetic tiles ( with the tiles and walls snapping together with magnets to keep from getting knocked) and wanted to see if anyone else was doing something similar.
Of course everybody seem to be doing gridless with fixed walls - but even so the basic idea is pretty much the same

If my phone cooperatesand I can dig some out of storage, I'll definitely post old and new tiles.
I'm currently working on a set of modular tiles based on Wyloch and DMG. It will be a set of various rooms and corridors like DMG and field tiles like Wyloch and will use Wyloch 1.25 grid. Although, they grid will be fairly loose because we play essentially gridless.

Before I found DM Scotties channel, I experimented with cutting out Cardboard and draw a grid on with pencil followed by Sharpy, so I could lay my rooms out one at a time.

My first tiles were made from scans of the old Heroquest board. I printed and mounted the rooms and corridors on cardboard then used the off cuts to cover the corrigation.
In high school in discovered war gaming and a local hobby store, so they evolved into flocked/textured and painted tiles very closely resembling Scotty and Dmg's tiles.
