I came across mention of this forum on Wyloch's Crafting Vids on Youtube. I've been a tabletop GM and player for 30+ years, and I paint a few miniatures but I would like to take steps into building terrain, dungeons etc, so Im here to learn

I came across mention of this forum on Wyloch's Crafting Vids on Youtube. I've been a tabletop GM and player for 30+ years, and I paint a few miniatures but I would like to take steps into building terrain, dungeons etc, so Im here to learn Welcome on board. The more the merrier! So, what kind of games do you play? If you want to get an idea whats really going on here, don't use the forum search. Instead use the google image search: www.google.de/search?q=site:dmscraft.proboards.com&num=100&newwindow=1&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwis2Lazk7bLAhVFWxQKHcNQAQUQ_AUIBygB&biw=1549&bih=998If you have tasted blood, you'll need the following things to start crafting: - a box cutter,
- a big glue gun. A small glue gun is also useful (optional)
- white glue (pva) and diluted white glue (pva + water)
- various forms of cardboard (ask your local supermarket)
- plastic packaging (don't throw anything away that might be useful)
- cheap acrylic paint and a couple of brushes. A sponge may be also helpful.
- black spray paint (optional)
This will bring you a long way. In the future visit thrift stores, flea markets, jumble sales, garage sales to dig for crafting gold. Great sources for crafting material are old board games with interesting game pieces and plastic toys. When you have finished your first project, make some photos and post them here (you have to store them on an external site, use flickr or something similar). It doesn't matter if it is perfect or not. It will be a source of feedback for you and a source of inspiration for all others. Cheers, Patrick

Cheers, Patrick Thank you all for the comments I've played and GM pretty much everything over the years OD&D, AD&D, 3.5, CoC, RQ, Star Wars d6, Shatterzone, Earthdawn. Marvel Super heroes etc etc I have a box cutter, sponges, PVA, brushes and acrylic paint (mostly Vallejo). My wife works in one of the local convenience stores, so I think im OK with cardboard. I think im going to find so many things to make I may need a bigger house

arrowknee,
Note that some of the builds, particularly the tiles, are made with double-layer corrugated cardboard, the kind that appliance boxes are made out of. This is for strength and to help prevent warping when it's wet with paint or glue.
Tons of info in this forum and many links to other resources

Welcome aboard.
Check out all the vids and pictures you can... I know I'm not the only one who will see a build I like and then see bits from other builds that would look good on another build.
