I really love the simplicity and elegance of thedmg 's wall segments. Easy and fast to build and nearly an infinite number wall representations could be created. I decided to created several wall segments that I could drop into my dungeons. Here they are:
All of the wall segments start out the same way. They are a couple layers of cardboard for thickness and a card stock front. Unlike TheDMG, I use hot glue on the edges and on the front and back for texture. I also added a couple of drops of hot glue on the card stock fold to keep the fold at 90 degrees. The torch holders are made from granny grate and a small plastic tube. I used some very thin wire to keep the granny grate in a cylinder form, and then slipped the wire into the tube and hot glued into place. The torches a made from q-tips and can be inserted into the holders. These wall niches were made by cutting all the way through the cardboard, and then adding a a card stock backer. The faux bricks are hot glue. Hanging tapestries: Toothpicks, paper towel, string, and push pins. The crossed swords and ogre head are pieces from Games Workshop. The coat rack is a stir stick with toothpicks and paper towel. The wall lever is a DMG floor lever glued to the wall. The skull is from a skull ring. I cut into the card board and then hot glued it in. You may want to build this wall segment if you are going to run "Under the Tavern" (see level 2 area 4). The water trap is straight from thedmg. The water font has a curved back from the packaging of a light bulb. The bowl is made from sculpey.

Very nice. I love these! They certainly are a quick way to add a nice pop of interest to any room or corridor.
Exalted, my friend.

You beat me to it Although I use wall segments sparingly, this is exactly the reason for them. To keep the 2.5D tiles, but add the odd wall embellishment here and there. Well done

Brilliant work.
May I suggest a wall segment with a pay phone? Just so the players can have a direct line to call the DM and report such things as alignment deviations, rules violations and munchkin players trying to peek behind the DM's screen. =D

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! This was something that has been on my to-do list for quite some time and it feels good to cross it off. I still have a few more wall ideas I want to build, but I think I got the bulk of them done. Thanks again!

Those look so lovely. I was wondering how many millimeters or inches tall are the walls that you are sitting the segments on? Also what is the thickness of the walls? Are the wall segments the same thickness as the bottom/base wall? I want to design an adapter so TheDMGInfo wall segments can also be used in other systems, like the dungeon tiles I am creating for myself.

I make my walls out of dollar store foamcore. The foamcore is about 3/16" thick and I cut my walls to 3/8" wide. The wall segments are the same thickness as the walls they sit on (or very close to it.)

What gauge wire did you use for the granny grating wall sconces? Those have been bedevilling me for like a month trying to get a decent model of them.It looks like very fiddly work but the effect cannot be denied!

It's the wire in the little wire ties that come with trash bags. I just peeled the paper off.

I assume you loop it thru the grating and then into the very tiny tube then secure it to the wall?
