The latest base for the Mushroom Forest is done. As always, the camera pointed ou a spot or two that would benefit from a touch up. The Mushrooms will be prettier in the eventual group pics. More whenever.

They are plenty pretty now! I love the bracket fungi on the mushroom stem.

They are plenty pretty now! I love the bracket fungi on the mushroom stem. Thanks, margaret! I am happy you like it. The bracket mushrooms were added to cover a crack in the stem, but I am fond of them also. They did get some nice comments. I finished the first stalagmite base today...it was a struggle: It did turn out reasonably well though. More whenever!

On the stalagmites, did you do a wash, or base coat then drybrush? I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Dip'er. I've made some DM Scotty stalagmites style in the past, using crumpled toilet paper tubes, covered in Hot Glue, painted with primer, then more appropriate colors, and then Dip'ed with urethane stain. I rarely use them in my games, but I have them as scatter terrain. I made some ice stalagmites using the same DM Scotty technique, only colored white, with a blue Magic Wash (acrylic floor polish + acrylic paint of the desired color). Need to make more, as I have a miniatures-based run through G2: Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl to run, with full 3D terrain. Cheers!

If I covered the toilet paper roll with foil, I could do the stalagmite with DAS. AND a paper towel roll would be a fine basis for a complete stalactite/ stalagmite column. I finished up the Fourth & fifth Mushroom Forest bases yesterday. Seen here with the stalagmite base & MF> base #3: The new stuff: Until next time...whenever that is.
