Nice brushwork. I like the highlighting on the faces and bodies. I'm a simple Dip'er. Your work really demonstrates highlighting in a clear way -- at least to me. I've done some dry-brushing, but it is not a major technique for me. Your work is tugging at me to do more dry-brushing... Stop that! LOL! Cheers!

I do the darkest shade of a triad/quartet of colors wash to start the faces & other stuff. Then I do progressive coats of successively lighter shades to build up to the highlights gradually. you might be able to do the same with the dips. I started making a couple more nasty ambulatory Mushrooms. This the "dolly" stage. Seen here with the finished prototype: Updates as things progress...I suppose.

I started on the Twisted Tower back sometime in '17. Seven years later, it is finally getting colorful: Updates as things progress...whenever that is.

I started on the Twisted Tower back sometime in '17. Seven years later, it is finally getting colorful... I hear ya'! I've had projects wait 20+ years to lift off of the ground. Too many projects, in fact. My d20 Globe project was born in 1982, or so. I made the global map of my game world, around 2010. I purchased laser-cut, equilateral triangles to build it into a physical globe, in 2023. I finished it in 2024. I need to build a mounting system for it, now... Cheers!

One of the drawbacks to enthusiasm is that we tend to have a lot of things going all at the same time.

The brushwork on The Twisted Tower Photo Stage is done other than touch ups when goofs are noticed. Next will be some detail work...this is the fun part. Until next time whenever that is.

Not really exciting, but I prepped up a bunch of wooden bases today; i.e., glued floral foam sphere slices & covered with Woodland Scenics foam putty Once the putty is dry, I will cover the tops with watered down tack glue & sand, paint them, & then they will be all set for whatever I want based, The wood discs are 40mm, 50mm, & a couple of 30mm.

Love the orange bodies, green faces, and purple noses. Fantastic color palette. They remind me of AD&D Hobgoblins: orange skin, blue noses, and a bad attitude... Thanks for sharing! Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, sgtslag. I am happy you liked the new Mushrooms. Now that you mention it, the coloration is similar to AD&D's Hobgoblins. While I am sure there will be some tweaking over time. the addition of The Moon & foliage renders the stage finished: I took seven years to finally finish the stage. The feeling of relief is incredible...procrastination is not necessarily a bad thing.
