It's time for a new Group photo. The new AND larger Mushroom Box is rapidly filling up: The Work In Progress Box is looking pretty healthy: Then there are the bases getting some paint: PLUS stuff on the work table: Marty found his own box...fits him perfectly...he says: There you go until next time...whenever that is.

I love how the eyebrows match the shapes and slopes of the smiles/frowns. I never caught onto it, until now. Thanks for sharing. Neat sculpting technique: I have probably seen it, hundreds of times in the past, but I just now realized how it is used, and just how effective it is, in conveying specific emotions within the sculpts.
In the past, sculptors and artists portrayed D&D's iconic Beholder monsters without any eyelid covering their large, central eye. Around the mid-1990's (?), they began adding in an eyelid covering atop the central eye. This allowed them to convey great emotion in their drawings and figure sculptures.
I am working on my own Beholder figures, and I have, thus far, adopted the Old School design of no eyelid. I see that I am truly missing out leaving the central eye, lidless, but I also like the original lidless concept. You have given me much to consider. Cheers!

I really like the blue-on-blue, on the mushrooms in the last photo, bottom right corner area. Fantastic, as always. Cheers! Thanks, sgtslag! I am happy you like them. I have been working on new color schemes for the various mushrooms. So far they have gotten good receptions from viewers. SO I did my white over black base coat on the two Flying Jack-O'-Lanterns yesterday. When I dug them out of storage to add the wings I was surprised to see I had made more than I thought I had. The other three may or may not get wings. If not, they will most probably become Pumpkinheads: Until next time...whenever that is

The Flying Jack-O-Lanterns now have new & even creepier eyes. The Faerie Winged Mushroom Witch is ready for painting, AND the Witch's Cup Mushroom have one painted & one almost completely painted...not too shoddy. The Flying Pumpkinheads/Jack-O-Lanterns; I thought I had enough wings to do all five Jacks, but it turned out I only had one more set of wings. SO I now have the additional wings plus some on their way from Reaper: The Faerie Mushroom Witch ready to paint: The wings are from Safari toy butterflies: One Witch's Cup Mushroom almost painted: And one ready to base: The inside of the cups: Until whenever. :clown:
