Hi guys, I'm scififan27, and I stumbled into DM Scotty's Youtube videos a couple of weeks ago. I have a lot of experience in a number of painting and crafting hobbies, and hope to bring all that experience together to produce some wicked cool tiles to play with. I've also constructed tilesets for Neverwinter Nights, which works on a very similar principle to 2.5d due to the necessary limitations of such an old game engine - yes, it is 3d, but for performance purposes, a lot of the details are suggested through texture, rather than actually modeled.
I'm still assembling my first tiles, which, contrary to my username, are actually going to be fantasy tiles. However, I woke up with ideas for ways to construct some very cool sci-fi tiles, so I'm sure my first sci-fi tiles won't be too long in coming.
I got into roleplaying 18 years ago with West End Games' Star Wars, playing with an online group, then played AD&D 2e, a teeny-tiny bit of VtM (which I've long since forgotten most of), then 3.x. I first GMed some two months after learning to play, and was a popular GM in the online Star Wars gaming group. My GMing skills haven't transferred well to D&D, which I think is just a mismatch in gaming style - D&D has so many numbers and stats that the programming mindset dominates it, rather than the storyteller. Today, I primarily play with the Fate system - a very good fit for gridless play, with its usage of zones rather than grid squares, and much more narrative based than stat based, which makes my gaming heart sing!
If my spelling seems a bit peculiar, I do apologize, I was born and raised in England before moving to the US, so my spelling alternates between British English and American English, often with no rhyme nor reason.
