So I took my air brush for a test drive, using thinned hobby paints. I noticed that the paint was more of a wash than paint. I was expecting something closer to spray paint to be honest.
Did I thin my paint too much?

Maybe, you want it to be the consistantsy of milk. also check your pressure. I tend to go on the low end, about 20-30psi

It sounds to me like you thinned it too much. When I airbrush I generally do about 3/5 acrylic paint to 2/5 water. I started with a lot higher water percentage, and it was like a wash.
Sometimes when I airbrush the paint dries almost immediately.
