So I have stripped some heroclix minis but haven't gotten into modding the little buggars.
Going to be getting some more and now that season is over I want to try my hand at modding some of them (after I get something to make my eyes work on that small scale... getting old sucks).
I've seen people here use plumber's putty for some projects, I have also seen green stuff used. I was at a store last night and was reading the back of the plumber's putty and it said not to use on plastic (heroclix are plastic). It had me wondering if it it would stick to the plastic of the mini. I did see a piece about a mod to a heroclix using green stuff and they guy didn't mention any side effects.
The two things I was thinking of as Bad Things [tm] would be the heat reaction of an epoxy and/or not having the right chemical make up to bond with the plastic (what you put on will fall off a month from now).
Fun thing about this heroclix project is having some IRL friends working on the stuff with me. I know two great prop guys who want to go in on it with me (sharing some of the cost) and some awesome artist friends who were like "Oh I want to paint some of them!"
I know there are mini makers on here, so I'm calling on the masters to offer suggestions.

Well... I am be no means a "master" of anything, much less modding figures, but I do have some experience in doing so. Not much with HeroClix in particular, but HeroScape seem to be made of similar stuff.
I have only ever had an issue with GreenStuff attaching here recently (to a MageKnight figure)... and it was a very thin area of contact and the surface had hardly any texture to it. If you are worried about it, score or scuff the area up a bit first, to better give the GreenStuff texture to grip onto. Plumber's Putty, on the other hand, I cannot speak towards... I have zero experience with that.

Thanks, at least it's a start. I know the two other people who are going in it with me have some experience with green stuff but their experience has mostly been with the metal figs. I'm sure we'll destroy a few with the learning curve. The one guy actually works in a plastic factory (on the floor) so when we screw something up he'll most likely know a work around. I'm just trying to my poop in a group. If someone knew if the putty worked (the plastic pipes and type of plastic used in the figs might be different so it may work) I'd snag some on the way home tonight. I should be getting the heroclix before or around Thanksgiving (Canadian Columbus Day). I know she has a little tub of it in her bathroom.... actually should bring one over next weekend and see if it sticks to a broken foot of one I already have I saw on the forums someone had "water putty" I have it (Durham's Water Putty) that they used with a mold for some casting. Was thinking of that as well. One of the things I like about The Craft is that for most of the projects we do you have left overs for more projects. Also that some of the stuff we use has other house hold applications.

Green stuff does work great. While I have ever tried Plumber putty on plastic, I will say that HeroClix can withstand lots of heat with no side effects. I have baked several with sculpey and I alway bake at a higher temp and for longer than the directions. Hero clix can easily withstand 300 degrees F with no problem. I have also encased them in hot glue (nearly 380 degrees F). I dont think that epoxy gets that hot.

At least chemical wise I know they have stood up to acetone very well. They might have gotten a little bit flexible, even tried bending an arm to a different position when it was soft. After being rinsed off and left to dry a day latter it was the same as it had been before I tried. The bases on the other hand turn into goop soon after dipping them in acetone (if you don't take them off first).
I know when I was doing a project a few years back (something for my aquarium) I had looked up stuff about adhesives and the different plastics. Some of it will have nothing stick to it..... LOL on a household tip note. My g/f's washing machine broke. The plastic ring up top came out of place and would spin around causing the washer to unbalance during spin cycle. I was farting around with some tiles and had my hot glue gun at her place.... Have only had to reglue it once (I didn't want to go full gunk on it the first time). Nerdcraft to the rescue.
If all goes well it should be fun. I've mentioned the project to people (one is only a semi-gamer) but there are 6 of us who want to knock the idea around and see what we come up with.

Lol, seriously 19lbs. Which from what I heard averages about 60 per pound. So will be about 1100-1200.
Original plan was for a 2lb lot but got sniped. Mentioned the 10lb one yo some friends and they wanted to go in on it. there's now like 6 or 7 people in on it.

I know the description said some of them may be broken. I'm wondering if we'll end up like Charlie Brown "I go a rock."
Paid this morning and so far hasn't said it shipped. I'm having them shipped to my work (if I knew the box could fit between my screen door and door would have it come to my home).
Meeting up with the other folks around the 6th and coming up with a game plan from there.
I'm partial to dwarfs so hope they have a bunch of ones that are shorties.

Irish Heritage means bad luck....
Good news the Heroclix are in Cleveland and should be ready for me to take home and snap some pics of on monday.
Bad news, switched my cell/mobile phone service over on thursday. they said it would be active on thursday, then friday, now it seems they are **long tirade full of profanity, death threats, frothing at the mouth, and me coming close to having a simultaneous heart attack and stroke**.
If the service is up on monday without me ending up being transferred from where I work to a Cardiac Care ICU there will be pictures... after installing photobucket and tap talk on the new phone.
