"That's right, folks, it's here. The new and improved Sienar Fleet Systems Hellcat Swoop, featuring a Thundercracker MK 4 turbothrust engine with quad port exhaust, a durasteel chasse, twin blade stabilizers, forward handgrips for smooth turning, and a Vornskr skin seat for comfort. At 3 1/2 meters, this Hellcat purrs right up to a top speed of 603kph and has a maximum range of almost 500 kilometers on a single charge of its E-6 Thermobright power cell with power droid smart-link coupling. This kitty-cat has a factory direct sticker of 5,999 credits, but due to an astromech navigation mishap we have a cargo bay full of them and we are passing the savings on to you! That's right, one easy payment of 1,500 credits and you can be the envy of all your friends. Give us a call, using your touch-tone Holonet. Operators are standing by." The whozy-whatzitz: The bulk of the Hellcat began life as the $0.85 heroclix Detroit Steel. I removed the arms and legs of the figure and trimmed up the head. I then cut the thighs and feet off. The other bits are a plastic pick from the dollar store (cut in half) and a plastic cap. I drilled a hole and superglued in the pick. I then superglued a foot to the pick. The plastic cap got got glued in over the head. I also split the thighs in half. I trimmed some bits from a platic yellow thing that held a three-pack of tomato sause together. The orange pieces are from an HP printer cartrige. The (1) will become a foot pedal and the (2) will be a detail in the front of the swoop. I glued on the foot pedals and then the thigh halves to the engine. I cut a seat back from a piece of plastic and then glued that on too. The steering colum is a bead and a cut up paperclip. Another paperclip got glued into some holes I drilled for a pipe. I glued on the front piece to the pick. The underside. I just love this thing! (is that okay to say?) I had fun working on this and I have a feeling it going to be hard not to think about Sci-Fi crafting.... I really want to throw down in a Star Wars game now. Also, a very big thanks to dodobot for showing me the power of Clix-kitbashing.... something I didn't fully understand or respect before. I'm a changed man...Thanks.

Well that's about as cool as can be! You are a master of seeing the potential of odd objects and bits of plastic. My hat is off to you sir.

Hey guys if you need some inspiration for speeders in star wars or sci-fi in general, this is a complete list of the mounts from SWTOR: tor-fashion.com/mounts/#tab-tab-32214-0-0-1-32214-1Being a MMO, the game has a lot of mounts. The art team really did an awesome job with them, very diverse. Your bike here is awesome, hope you make more!

Oh my lord, Curufin. That speeder is over the top amazing. You are one gifted kitbasher. And painter. I love the handlebars and seat, looks supercool. Actually I love all of it, and I really wish I had one;-) Luckily for me, I'm gonna play Imperial Assault tonight, so I can scratch that itch, you just gave me:-) Keep the one night builds coming, and please sell them as well as this one. I wish I had 1500 credits...

Thanks everybody! Im finding the Sci-fi crafting to be very rejuvenating. I also find it to be far more forgiving than fantasy which typically is just varying degrees of stone, wood, stone, metal, and stone.... did I mention stone? (Thought the argument could be made that sci-fi Space Opera is just varying degrees of metal). I guess what I mean is a fantasy wagon has a very distinct look. Deviate too much at it ceases to be a wagon. But as space ship can be anything. Who know what all the little extra embellishments are; power cores, conduits, power couplings, zenon flow restrictors, alpha wave current accelerators/inhibitors. It's crafting freedom! Probably doesn't hurt that Star Wars was my first great love.
Yes, Noc, I NEED a SW campaign!
I just made a second Miniature Market purchase, so I have a few more Detroit Steels coming. I have to keep my fantasy crafting going, but rest assured, there are more speed bikes coming!
Thanks again, comments like these keep the inspiration flowing!

Actually, I thought we were all coming over to your place. curufin, I know what you mean about switching genres to recharge the batteries. I'm probably going to make something for Pathfinder in the next couple weeks, just so I don't burn out. I've got plenty of work to do on the Star Wars project, but I don't want it to feel like work.

Does this thing have a good sound system? If so, then I'm in This is amazing. I was thinking about the nature of crafting last night and realized most of this borders on art if you think of art as seeing the potential in something that others don't really see. It's what Da Vinci said about his statues, he sees the image in the stone, he just chips away all the rest. This is a prime example of that statement. Well done. I am jealously impressed.

if you guys organise a game via fantasy ground ... tell me i'd be willing to join in. heck even skype would do fine. but not roll20, i hate that system its way too hard to learn.
wow got myself kicked in by the game, forgot what i wanted to post... very nice job there. kit bashing seems like fun. i really need to start it up too.
also, yeah most dungeons ends up the same... but if you count other fauna... there are tons of stuf that one can do that is not stones.

A couple of years ago I was inspired by a few pieces that I had collected to build a pod racer. Sadly, I still have not finished painting it yet. But I could put some pictures of it up here, if curufin wouldn't mind the clutter in his thread. I was going to post them in a spoiler, but I can't seem to be able to figure out how to do that with this site's coding.

I thought you may be interested in this. It was $2.50 at Dollar General. There are three different versions and they come apart. A lot of things you could do with those parts! I saw these and immediately wished I was in a sci-fi campaign!
