I often have a thread idea which would fit into any of:
General Crafting Crafting Q&A Crafting Tips, Tricks, and Resources
When I go to post, I'm torn because I want the largest audience possible. And I know I usually only visit General Crafting. I very rarely visit the other two.
I would suggest consolidated all three into just General Crafting.
Or, perhaps TT+R into General Crafting, and maintain Q&A by itself.
If consolidation is not possible, simply change them to read-only, with a sticky informing the user to go to General Crafting.
I know this runs the risk of flooding General Crafting, and causing new threads to quickly get pushed to page 2 - but actually, based on quantity of activity lately, it doesn't seem like that would be a threat. Threads tend to stick around page 1 for at least a week, with no replies to re-up them.
In any event, thanks for maintaining this forum.

Personally, I always click on "New Posts", so for me it doesn't matter in which sub-forum something is posted. Not sure this helps you...

tauster beat me to it. I don't check the individual areas unless I've been away for a while.
