$2.97 for 1/8" Baltic Birch, 10 packs of 2.5" squares. Not as cheap as free but it's not really bad. Would probably end up costing about $50 for enough for a full set of tiles but that is still cheap considering what you get. Of course if you have a good tablesaw, an 8x4 sheet of Baltic Birch is pretty cost effective I bet.

Cutting your own ends up with both wasted material from the cuts that you lose, and a lot more work in sanding the edges so that they position correctly while not leaving splinters behind...not to mention still keeping the correct size.

Great looking terrain! I like your take on sewer tiles!
Hey thanks for posting the plywood squares link sotf! I have actually cut my own tiles from plywood and like you say, there's wasted wood! More importantly, I was cutting them as 6 inch squares so that is a whole lot easier than 2 or 2 1/2 inch squares! I'll have to experiment with cutting out smaller sizes to see what results I get! I do like the idea of having a stronger base than cardboard or even foamcore!

Yeah, one of the big issues with the normal methods here is that Cardboard really isn't something that holds up well to a lot of the abuse that can be common on the table with normal wear and tear.
I had one friend who bought a bunch of the cheap cookie sheets at the dollar store and chopped them up to make tiles as he magnetizes the bases of all of her minis, but that ended up being a problem with massive warping issues that took her months to get them in the right shape and constructed with the edges buffed down and more to the point that she says it looks nice, but wasn't worth the effort.
With the pre-cut base tiles, I'm considering foam core for the floor details and then edging them with the square craft "dowels" that are 1/4th inch. Perhaps going with a felt underlayer to make things less likely to damage tables.
For the longer term, having a good set of modular tiles is something that would be quite useful to have. Perhaps a few larger pieces as well that could be recurring features such as a portal (Something that I'm considering due to the current 5e setting I'm working on making heavier usage of certain types), a generic magic circle, larger stairway options, or things of that sort.

CARDBOARD WIZARDRY !!!!
Seriously, the cardboard shelf that serves as a multiple angle camera stand is pretty ingenious. Most youtubers, I've seen, build a PVC Rig with scaffolding to mount their camera above their work area.

Nice vid. I had a laugh and your wife seemed to fully enjoy this as well. I wish to propose a vote to replace Bill... for obvious aesthetic reasons...

I used to know a guy that let a bead escape a pillar....needless to say, he doesn't game around these parts anymore.
Cool video and very funny to hear someone on the outside explain this stuff to us. We really are a weird bunch.

cool videos. like the back stage one. for those wondering about the cardboard stuff... yeah it works with cardboard... but try and make that kind of rig for a true HD camera. i guarantee you, you are beter off with PVA. but for a phone camera, nice setup. makes me feel like the one in my car holding my phone when i drive.
is it me, or is your wife better at this then you are ? i mean come on, she probably got more comments on this single video then you on 26. just kidding, love that vid as well. glad she wanted to do it. most of the woman i know fears the camera.

A TRUE HD Camera on average could easily have a cardboard mount and I would prefer that or a thin MDF, over metal for easy modification. I will agree that you would have to change the design to a tripod like system to support the larger cameras, But never say that you cant make it cardboard has limitless potential and should never be underestimated, ALL HAIL CARDBOARD!!!

but back to the matter at end, your phone has such an amazing camera man. my galaxy alpha has a great camera too, but its nowhere near that quality. I use the free OpenCamera app, which unlocks all sorts of useful camera controls such as exposure, resolution, focus, white balance, etc. Try it out. Has worked wonders for me. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera&hl=en
