I agree. Really like your tiles and accessories. I also like to map only what the PCs see.

How do you keep the tiles from moving while placing your miniatures Well...just place them. Be delicate? I guess this is an issue for some folks, as this question has come up a few times. But it has never been an issue for me...

basics, gotta love basics. i too did my stairs that way. best of all they are 2.5D Next compliant as well.
but with tiles... i think these stairs aren't made to be in a tile. i think they should definitely be their own tiles. i dont know there is something weird when you make a down stair way that just do not connect to the tiles itself. also... usually stairs have railings or walls for people to hold onto. rarely will you see a circle stair without a walls. it seems just weird to me. that said as mentionned, the PROs of it is that they can be put everywhere. so its still good for the table.
but i think they remove a bit of belief, for those who like that believing feel.

I think it would be good to do both whole tiles and these. Each is suitable in most cases, but it would be nice to have either functionality wise. Also, stairs could be in the middle of a room, so it would look more awkward as its own tile (unless you made it specific to the scene).

Something I learned a few years ago about spiral staircases that I found very interesting... In castles, they were almost always designed to spiral clockwise while ascending. Since most people are righthanded, this allowed those defending the staircase (higher on the stairs) full range of motion with their sword arms, while simultaneously limiting the same of the attackers. Regardless, fantastic craft as always, Wyloch!

Just watched the video and I would have liked a third step with the straight staircase. Just to make it a clearer set of stairs. (1 double cardboard + 2 single cardboard) It now looks like a kitchenstep or something

That's the problem with a forum, everyone has an opinion

reliantlion, its already awkward if you ask me. having a stone stair in a bar like surface is pretty weird to me. thats the problem with stairs, you have to make multiples of them just because each surface you put them on is different and there is no fits all effect on them.
in the end you will have a need for wooden ones and stone ones anyway. as for me, my visuals are just a representation. so i dont care if the feel of disbeleif is there or not. i use my stone stairs on every surfaces.
as for th estraight stairs... i too think more then 2 steps would be good. i also think the circle stairs is too small. but considering the system he uses... lego style... he has no choices to do them, otherwise it wouldn'T fit his system anymore. so its fine by me.

Hmm, I wasn't really meaning making tiles for every environment, so much as making the physical shapes different. i.e. a stair tile that goes in the middle of a room would be constructed differently than one found in a hall way. But w/e.

The beauty of lego style is that it all fits nicely realistically as long as you build a base for the staircase that fits the measurements to mount it on it does not limit it by much I plan to just build a loose fitting one independent of base and one attached or really several.
