what is mod podge exactly?
first i thought i was just thinned down white glue, but a pot of it of the same brand as the glue i buy is way more expensive.

mod podge is probably much thicker white glue. as written on the stuff... it can seal stuff up. which is something harder to do with white glue. can be used as glue. but is mostly used for watery 3D effect. because of its thickness. when it cures it leaves a good platic like layer. it can also be diluted into water but the effect is much less good.
but yeah it can be compared to white glue, just thicker. there is also a 3D mod podge existing. for those who do not want to wait the 10 coats. its like a liquid paste. once its curing it grows a bit to form kind of a glass.
i do recommend you buy a mod podge bottle. its still cheap and it does the job on a lot of stuff.

actually i bought something i think is similar called 'vallejo water effects'. and they also have 'extra heavy gel' for volume and 'still water' for flat surfaces.
i haven't tried it yet, but dmscotty's fountain is still on my to do list.

mod podge is great for water effects, and it is wise to get the brushes he suggested in the video - they will still cause bubbles if you're not careful, but once you get the technique down it's very easy to avoid the podge bubbling up when it dries.
