I have the idea for a puzzle/transport pad. I envision a raised dias with a stone style floor like that of the Indiana Jones movie scene (i.e. glyphs engraved on the various floor tiles). In the dungeon, as the adventurers clear areas, they will periodically find symbols that match the glyphs on the floor. If inserted into the glyph, the glyph will glow. When all the glyphs glow, a transporter will activate taking the adventurers to the final section of the adventure. (The intent is to ensure that the adventurers do not take on the "Big Bad Wolf", until after they have cleared the dungeon.) So, what I need is a raised dias divided into four (or more) sections which can be individually lit from below. Was thinking about using a document protector for the floor surface (texture like a stone floor except where the glyphs are present) and sectioning off the stones below and using a tea light for the light source. Any ideas?

The first thing that came to mind for me was the tal rasha waypoint from diablo 2. You could do foam and cut out the rune writing for a LED to fit under it and light it up when they insert a rune if that's what you want.

Yeah, you might be able to get some bleed through of LED light through a foam core floor that's been scored fairly deep. Of course, if worst comes to worst, you could score completely through it.
Maybe a thin coat of acrylic paint glued to the bottom of it, so it doesn't look completely cored to the naked eye when unlit.

Use a thin plastic base (transparent), paint it to look like stone, then etch out the glyph (scratch the paint away). Light it from underneath, and you have a glowing rune.

That's a good idea, onethatwas. I might try to make a room with interchangeable runes... I could make so many puzzles!
