Thanks! The camera really shows how un-matte the matte sealer is...... I really need to get some dull-coat to try out on a few of the minis....

I usually don't seal non metal figs and I have never had a problem. I've had some issues with the D&D ones in particular (the ones from the Ravenloft and Legend of Drizzt boardgames) flaking and rubbing off when they are handled, even moreso than the metal ones. Plastic figs like the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k ones I have never had an issue with, but I have with their "finecast" resin kits. So basically I started sealing everything, the sheen from the brush on matte sealer isn't quite as noticable in person, but can still be seen which is why I am looking for a good dull coat. I have used spray sealers in the past to mix effect. sometimes they turn out perfect and other times they crystalize and leave the minis with a cloudy/foggy look which is really annoying.... I also wish I was more consistent with my paint jobs, but the bleepin nerve damage I have often makes things difficult. But I'm not gonna stop doing it because as soon as I give in my hands will likely atrophy to a point of uselessness. Just have to keep working with them...

MWT make sure to wash figs from boardgames with soap and water as they often have leftover mold release agent on them that is not good for paint adhesion.

And one that I use... in fact I wash them once, dry them then repeat..... Not just with the boardgames figures but with all of them as there is usually releasing agents left on all of them...

Something that I found to work well for flames is to wash white then yellow in the creases while rubbing off the excess so as to show some translucent red, then drybrush the tips black.
As far as sealers go... try dipping them in minwax instead. It doubles as a high quality shading.
