this is exactly what i was saying... proboards have an income since there is publicity. and scotty is using their proboards. i didn't mean scotty was making money out of this forum, i meant that proboards does. i know how forums works, i had one... though it was with ikonboard back then.
and a true board costs a hell of a lot more on bandwidth alone. what we did on our full board though, was to limit the image section. if the image was above a certain limit in size it wouldn'T be uploaded. but i dont think this can be done on a free board. so many options are out when using free boards.

I'm a person who likes everything to have its place I'm in for a miniature board.

skunkape... i meant a full board hosted your own server. active or not doesn't matter. i just didn't know how to explain that in a single word.
anyway... it'd be great to know actually what could be expanded. you know what are our options. because being aon a free hosting means we are literally crippled by limitations. so it'd be great to know what are the limitations actually.

I wouldn't say this community is crippled for lack of some image hosting capacity

When it comes to images most use a 3rd party upload system already and worse case we could always ask people to specifically use a host site for all images posted.

Reason I mentioned it is that I had originally told you guys you could host it on my site, but you ended up going with proboards. I'm pretty sure I could handle the space and bandwidth issue, but I understood the reasons behind going with proboards. Course now I don't know how good an idea it would be to switch from proboards to another site.

I was one of the naysayers originally when the issue of posting pics came up. I can say it now my resistance was both futile and born from my own layness at having to take that extra step of using the image storage site. However now that I have gotten used to it and how it works I am very pleased with how this site works!

If I added a section I would do it like this:
DMs Craft General Discussion Crafting Miniatures Toy/Miniature Mods Scratch Built Painting (not a really necessary section imo)
I like the idea of further organizing the forums and subforums, organization (too much is cumbersome though) is great!

It seems to me this discussion got a little off topic. I would like to see an section for Crafting/Modifying Miniatures.
To me it is a separate issue from creating terrain, rooms and furniture. Each encounter in a given adventure has two visual things to work on, the setting and the participants.
I don't like spending a lot on the things I need to run my games, so I create them. I found great posts on this board for cheap conversions and would also like to share my own thoughts.
If you chose to create a separate section for this, would you move the older post to the new section?
Many of the post have both even attempting this could end up a mess, plus it would be a lot of work. It would (IMO) create a benefit to the community.
Just my 2 cents,

+1 for a crafting/modifying miniatures
I also think that 3d printing is a very hot topic that would deserve its very own section.

Crafting miniatures and 3D printing are both subjects of great interest here that require different skills sets than terrain crafting. I could see them each having their own sub-forum.

I would love to see a 3D printing sub-forum. There are enough of us doing it now it can easily support its own.

Personally, I'd like to see a thread for adventures, so folks could post and share adventure ideas. There isn't a thread directly related to that.

There's a reason for this jesternario, This is primarily a crafting forum and I was hoping to keep it like that. There are many, many, many, many! things that could be added to the forum about D&D / roleplaying but I didn't want it to veer off into a D&D forum (although most of it seems to be). If DM Scotty wants it geared more to roleplay / D&D then we'll go from there.
