Not content to ever be finished, I am still working on stuff for my last DM session of this campaign before we switch DMs tomorrow night. The players will end the session with them finding the portal they have been searching for. This portal is one of 9 linked portals so it will be reused a lot through the remainder of my campaign. I still need to work out how it's all going to work because the players will eventually need to figure out how to use it. I made it modular so I can easily change the color of the portal based on the location they activate.
This will be how they find the portal in its un-activated state. I will probably paint this piece in a stone texture.
Once activated it will look like this. The portal at this stage is dangerous. If they step through it like this they could end up anywhere...and it won't be another portal.
There are 9 runes on the portal, each one signifies a portal. The one they are starting at happens to be the one in the center at the top. That is the "Warlock" because of the Wizard Dalnir who created this dungeon. They players originally thought Dalnir to be a petty wizard who got in over his head with his tower, lost control of it and died. They will soon find out that Dalnir was much more than history has told. There are 9 different colors.
