A few years ago, one of the Christmas gifts I got for my wife was late arriving. I told her that the Pasta Weasel hadn't shown up yet. Well for some reason this joke kept cropping up over and over again. I figured what I really needed to do was make an actual Pasta Weasel. I got the weasel sculpted and painter in time. Unfortunately just the weasel didn't really sell the Pasta Weasel joke. What I really needed was a bowl of pasta. Here's what I gave her... And in keeping with the joke, the gift was a day late. I made the weasel out of Super-Sculpey and green stuff. (Sorry I didn't take any work in progress shots. I was running late with this as it was.) The pasta is more Super-Sculpey. The plate is a dessert plate I found at Good Will for 49 cents. First I sculpted the bed of pasta. Then I sat the weasel into the bed to make room. I removed the weasel and baked the noodles and primed it. I wanted some noodles draped over the weasel, so I made a few more strands, carefully laying them over the critter and then baking the strands individually. The bed of pasta was painted first. Then I hot-glued it to the plate. Individual strands were primed, then glued in place with super glue, then painted. There's an acrylic gloss coat over the wet parts of the noodles, bowl and weasel. Here are a few more shots... and I am happy to say my wife was indeed happy with her Pasta Weasel. If you were wondering, a Pasta Weasel is a small creature dipped in butter that squirms through the pasta making sure all the noodles are coated correctly. My wife thought you might want to know.

whenever I think that I've seen it all, somebody comes around the corner and takes it to the next level. 'awesome' doesn't even begin to describe this!

That's about as cute as it gets! =)
One of the great things about this hobby is its flexibility. It makes us see things with a creative practicality that can be harnessed for all sorts of delightful things!
The creature that has lent its magnificent likeness to my avatar is Augustus, The Friendly Tentacle Monster. Augustus was a gift for my girlfriend, and that made me push myself to excel and create the most elegant work I've done so far.
Love for the hobby, a hobby for love...
