After one year of crafting I have come to the realization that hot glue sticks are my biggest crafting expense. It also doesn't help that both of my glue guns constantly dribble hot glue out of the nozzle when on, but not in use. I use a little copper dish to catch all of the waste. I have been (re)making my own hot glue stick from all of the hot glue waste. I start with a small piece of wood a 1/2 inch wide, two strips of cardboard, some parchment paper, and a couple of spring clamps. Use some of the spring clamps to make a trough from the wood and strips of cardboard. Line it with the parchment paper. CAUTION: the next steps will involve open flame and very hot glue so make sure you have a parent or guardian present to give you a hand. Using gloves and a pair of pliers, place the dish on the stove and cook on a very low flame. When the glue has melted, carefully remove from the stove with the pliers and pour into the trough. You will have plenty of time to pour, the copper dish will retain the heat. Here are some of the glue sticks I made on the right, as compared to a store bought glue stick on the left.

wow, simply wow... my hotguns don't dribble as much as yours, at least not after I had to replace my old gun because of nonrepairable excessive dribbling. Nowadays, what dribbles are left over get sorted in two categories:
1) interesting dribble shape 2) the rest.
I use category 1 stuff as glued-on decoration. Category 2 stuff is simply thrown in when I have to apply large amounts of hotglue: Squirt a large puddle of liquid glue wherever you need it and let it melt some of the recyclnig dribbles.

I agree with tauster, i thought of that too. but seriously, my dribble when its appearing is often used as decorative dribble. the shapes of these are perfect.

I've mostly abandoned hot glue... I miss the convenience, but it's just too thick in 15mm...
