I've been thinking about making up a BattleSystem mass battles game around an army of Giant Ants attacking a village; either that, or a BattleSystem Skirmish game pitting a small band of adventurers against the invading Ants. Giant Ants are very scary in 1st/2nd Ed. AD&D rules... These mound ideas are fantastic. It could be quite a lot of fun to watch the Players battling against the Ants, and their mounds. I wouldn't do more than one battle with them, but it could be interesting as a one-off game. Cheers!

It was a hoot when my players encountered the ants. It took them two tries. First time they kept killing ants and I just kept having more (recycled) ants pop out the mound. Then the players ran away. I love it when they run away...
Second time the players brought some alchemical fire, distracted the ants, had the rogue sneak up, dropped it down the hole, successfully plugged the mound and proceeded to justly slaughter the remaining above ground ants. Mission, using strategy, accomplished.
