I've used TEA lights (flickering LED white or yellow mostly), but one of the latest videos spoke of a really bright LED, but not where to find them. Could not find them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby or dollar stores), so I went online. I found them at 100candles.com.
They have many colors available and I ordered several.
The single LED lights are amazingly bright, as well as being smaller. They twist on/off. Red/White/Blue/Green/Amber are all really bright. They have a UV blacklight LED, but it is not very bright. Neither is the purple light.
The triple lights are not three times as bright. They seem about the same brightness, but it seems softer and more uniform. They also twist on/off
They also have a glowing "egg". Nice smooth glow. I got the one with rotating colors - red, green, blue with lots of shades. You pull the plastic tab and it goes on - no off switch. You have to pull the battery and put the plastic strip back in.
I ordered Wednesday evening and were delivered by Saturday. Note they seem to have a flat rate for shipping - 1 was the same cost as 12.
Hope this helps,
David in Austin
Update: I was very wrong about the UV light. I purchased some "Glow In The Dark" paint by Rustoleum (http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3115098&KPID=4781318&kpid=4781318&pla=pla_4781318) and it dries almost completely clear. Under a normal black light bulb the paint was nothing special, but under the UV led it lit up! This combo works amazingly well.
