1/60 might be way too small to me.
i like the 1/45 scale he used with tin foil to do his cars. that seem just right to me.

So the look on my face when I get home to a small package filled with reaper minis....priceless. So my weekend just got busy. I'll post pics when I get these bad boys painted in my paint thread.

Nice, I really dig that one on the left! Very cool modern apoc character.

Sorry for the double-post here, but I just thought of something else that might be a stunning set piece.
I was playing Destiny and was in the Moth Yards, then it hit me... a rusted out old plane fuselage! If you found an old toy, you could use the wings and engines and what not as line-of-sight breakers and elevation-styled terrain pieces. Getting to fight through the interior would be really awesome as a player, but in order to make that work, you would have to probably figure out some kind of 2.5D terrain solution, as maneuvering minis through the body of the fuselage would be next to impossible.
Anyways... just an idea!

Wow awesome idea man. I can craft torn up plane seats and other debris inside the broken plane.

Yeah, maybe even something like a drink cart that they can use as mobile cover to move up the aisle behind - complete with bottles of booze that they can use as impromptu Molotov cocktails to hurl at the baddies (as well as some Nuka Cola goodies, perhaps)!
Maybe there could be something in the cockpit that they need to get and they have to start at the rear, near that tail, and work their way forward. But, naturally, some other group has already taken up residence inside, so it's teeming with baddies. You could even have a big old gnarly mutant, wielding something appropriate to the encounter (like stuff found on the plane or in people's luggage - like a bundle of golf clubs all bound together to form a wicked haphazard mace, or a whip made from some of the internal wiring.

Genius! I like the ideas. That's one thing I need to get, bulk minis on the cheap of mutants, bandits, and some primitive robots. I'm looking in to picking up a few hirst arts molds for some modular floors and walls for the vaults.

Thank you!
Yeah, you might look into HeroClix (and Reaper's Bones line for flesh-golems and/or their Chronoscope sculpts) for mutants - things like Hulk, Thing, Abomination, etc. Since they are bigger than humans, you could also probably find no shortage of "strong man" toys that could fit the bill.
I also had another idea to go along with the plane thing. Traps. It would be a perfect place for some nefarious traps. One of my favorite traps of all time is a two-parter:
The first part is that the party gets sprayed with some kind of mysterious liquid. It isn't bad, but you have to sell it... or else they'll suspect something. You could have this liquid simply impose a temporary penalty to attacks because of the distraction of it and/or they got some in their eyes. Or you could have it deal and extremely small amount of damage as it irritates their skin. Whatever. The second part is to have a baddie (or a second part of the trap activate) throw fire at them. And that's when the terrible true nature of the liquid becomes apparent, all too late. It was an accelerant, and now that pitiful little fire that the baddie hurled at them becomes an enveloping inferno of personal hell. And in this instance, you already have the perfect thing built it - jet fuel!

Deadly trap! I'll have to check out the hero clix if they are reasonably cheap I might just go that route. I feel like I can get by with 8 mutants, 8 soldiers of various classes, and a lot of oversized bugs.

On Ebay, search for "HeroClix lot". This will usually lead you to a large amount of the things for relatively cheap. You can't be quite a picky about what you may or may not get this way, but it's one of the best ways to get bulk. And the best thing is... it doesn't matter if they're all messed up. I re-base any of them that I use anyways and, even better, with them being mutants... you can easily turn any damage to the figure into damage to the baddie himself!

Nice! What did you make that out of?
Looks like coathanger wire... almost.

Cold beer was made out of tin solder and the H2o is out of some brass wire. The solder was super easy to bend however extremely fragile. The brass was nice and tough but too many mistakes will lead to breakage. I'd go for floral wire. I'd like to see someone with an airbrush take a shot at making the back lighting.

its easier to start from the board. air brush the lighting, then add the neons to the sign. when it comes to making 3D stuff, you always work from back to front.

Well I painted the signs first then I was trying to get the right glow effect on the cardboard. I think an airbrush would give a nice haze.

I need to come up with some sort of modular mats and some how get broken road pieces incorporated as well. Not sure what to use that's big enough for the scenes I'm going to set. Anyone know of any way to create road pieces well? I also really like the picture Erasmas!

A gamestore that I used to frequent here locally had several wargaming terrain tables set up that had some fixed features on them. One of them that always fascinated me and that I found particularly clever was a section of raised highway, broken and ruined. They used roofing shingles for the asphalt - the kind that is little tiny rocks on tar paper. It looked absolutely brilliant!
