The tiles pictured in the first image are from a game called HeroScape. It was a miniature wargame put out for a little while by Milton Bradly and was pretty cool. The tiles are designed in such a way as to modularize very, very well and lock in place. You can also stack them to create rises and falls in the landscape and they even put out a castle set with taller walls and stuff. I was into it pretty heavily for a while and have a TON of the stuff at home. The biggest reason that I don't play it anymore is just that it takes a decent amount of time to set-up and take down.

Single room. Don't try to break it up into smaller hexes... your mind will collapse This is very true. I attempted to "hex up" a room one...it wasn't pretty. They found me three days later...just staring off into space, babbling something about "gridless hexes" and in danger of drowning in my own drool. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS!!! =(
