I definitely will want to use such a system. today i had a player fall down a pit into another identical room below... he was playing on the same map as the others and i asked the players to just ignore him as he was on another floor. this would of definitely made the game look better.
but for this to work, you'd need to have giant tiles.
right now i'd want to see the structure without the ship. like to explain how everything holds on together.
i'd definitely use that. for Towers and tree villages.
