Hey All, Here's a medieval torture rack that I threw together.. it's mostly popsickle sticks, matchsticks and wooden coffee stirrers. The manacles are plastic straw-type coffee stirrers that are superglued to a metal ring that goes through the chain. The gearbox(?) that the lever is sticking out of is made from 2 popsickle stick tips. Big thanks to Draklith for the gears! Bits-swapping by mail is fun! For the lever & crank, I used the same method as my Teeny Tiny Torture Tools, which are also shown in this room. For the skeleton in the cage, see Medieval Punishment CageFor the table with the skull on it, see Sprue Tables & Wood PileFor the document on the table, see Gift: Printable Paper/Parchment ItemsFor painting the hot coals, see Make a Cheap Fire Elemental. The coals are sitting in a small, simple Woodsie bowl, from Hobby Lobby. For the barrel rack, see Super Simple Barrel RacksI think that covers everything, lol. Arm ripped right out of the socket... ouch. Sometimes I find it's easier to prepaint tiny parts as I assemble them, before attaching them to whatever they're going on: Cheers!

Very [not] nice, beetlewing! I can't say that I've seen much torture stuff before on this forum. The rack looks very intricate and the paint job is fantastic. Those tools you made are incredible. The whole setup is so realistic it's scary! Got any other implements/devices planned?

That is a very detailed and impressive torture chamber....but those hot coals, I swear they are actually glowing with heat.

Actually, I really should take a crafting break and focus on the campaign for a bit, as it's launching soon. This'll be my first time DMing more than one person, so I'm pretty nervous, lol. I've made a lot of stuff since joining this forum, but I never made doors for my tiles! I'd better get crackin' on that as well, haha! To answer your question directly, no other specific devices in the works yet, but I'm sure my brainstorm gland will kick in before long.

They look that way in person too... it's pretty cool I think it's that last drybrushing (adding the ashy light gray) that REALLY brings them to life. The undercoat of white also does a lot to keep the orange nice and bright. Paint orange straight onto black and you get yuck.

Excellent work! The hot poker turned out great! It is very likely that I will be stealing all of this.

Yeah but can you imagine the look on the face of the next "victim" brought into this room for "questioning". Yeah they would talk...alot...probably make up stuff.

If that was 'thrown together' beetlewing I'm bracing myself for seeing a project of yours where you're really trying.

I would like beetlewing to stop posting awesome stuff like this since it makes me want to play in his game but I am too far away from him, resulting in sadness for me. Your stuff is too good man.

Awesome! I agree about the hot coals -- they look real enough to burn...

You're too kind I'm really glad I set this room up for photographing the rack, which was supposed to be the focus - it showed me how quickly a room like this can get overcrowded with fluff. While it looks cool with everything together, it made me stop and think about playability with my group: 5 player minis + foe(s). When we get to the point that I need a room like this, I'll probably make a larger tile for it, lol. Little tip for others showcasing minis, props & objects: To create the walls in this scene, I simply placed hallways on their sides, supported by paint bottles. I think hiding my kitchen in the background really helps reduce distraction in the overall photo, and adds a nice backdrop. I'm thinking about crafting a backdrop with 3 walls and a floor (so I don't need the bottles) for the sole purpose of photographing... like a little movie set, with this built into the floor: Mini Turntable for Photographing Minis
