If you have any concerns at all about ink prices then stay away from color laser. I have a color inkjet and a b+w laser. I use the laser printer for just about everything these days because it's the most efficient way to print b+w. Color on the other hand can get a bit much. Even a cheaper 3 color laser printer will usually run you about $85 for each color + the cost of the drum. They might claim to yield something like 1800 pages but that is with something like 10% coverage. The kind of stuff you would be printing is much more coverage than that. I love my laser but if I ever decide to print my tiles then I will just convert my ink jet into a continuous ink system.

For paper crafting, continuous ink supply printing is the only way to go. I would love to go this route, as it lowers the print cost, per page. Speaking of B&W laser printing, have you tried painting your laser printouts? DM Scotty's latest(?) video on making Orc War Banners, demonstrates the principal. I've thought about it, but I have not tried it yet. I would like to make some custom Goblin banners to reflect their tribes. There are monochrome 2D dungeon files for sale, as well, from Microtactix. More work, but customizable. Cheers!

Well, I just installed my new Epson L355 and am about to start printing off some new terrain PDFs. Yes, continuous ink supply is great, but unless you are a first adopter fool like me *pats new unit* you will be voiding your warranty when you put a continuous unit into your printer (if you ask me though, its worth it). If you have no printer, and a very limited budget, cheap student style acrylic paints and the 2.5D Next method is the most cost effective. DMG's modular system and the 2.5D terrain style is the next step up from there, and remember, you don't need to build accessories and furnishings for the entire dungeon, just the rooms you are currently exploring. When I see sets of good quality 3D printed plastic dungeon furnishings that are on sale for a very reasonable price, I will probably get some, but, I just read that my international Bones miniatures set is getting shipped earlier than I expected, and its got some furnishings included, so... WOOT!

This is my new baby.. cost way to much, but it suits my needs perfectly. I also have left over bottles of ink I got for my Continuous Ink System (which ended up killing an HP Printer), so I have enough for several thousand pages. I bought a Canon Pixma in between the dead HP and this new Epson, but the replacement ink cartridges (although you only need to buy two, the black and the colours) were so expensive I just stopped printing. Once you go Ink Refill, you don't go back.
