I have tons of minis and well...I could literally have a room of them and still be missing something. I used to play with tokens or even pennies back in the day (Im not ancient but i started playing 25+ years ago). Just made me wonder what you guys thought..What is too many ? For reference this is my collection and trust me the picture doesn't do it justice. imageshack.com/a/EAIz/1

Kant see it neither. The shack has issues internationally. Might I recommend the bucket?

The image is not popping up, but to answer your question. I don't think that you can have too many.

You can never have to many minis, well, unless your wife objects!

It's hard to have "too many" miniatures, but it is possible to have an unbalanced collection, meaning you could have "too many" orcs compared to, say, lizard folk. That can lead a GM to have predictable encounters. I've got a lot of minis too, and I always feel like I need more. Here's a look at the bulk of my collection. (Not all, I missed a few boxes when I laid these out

wow....thats alot. Anyway, too many is first off determined by your storage space. If you've got a spare warehouse you shouldn't worry. Also what kind of minis and how often do you use them? Humans are usually safe to have alot of because they fit most campaigns at almost any level. demi-humans are less common in many campaigns so you generally need less of them. And the bigger badies you probably don't need more than 1 or 2 cause when the dm says "There are 10 ancient dragons" I've already run away. It is alot of fun though to have a ton of fodder minis to let your players wipe the battlefield.

I have been having issues finding rhinos and elephants of the proper scale. Are they minis or plastic toys?

Heh, I have bought stuff at so many places it's hard to remember where I got them all.
In terms of probability of accuracy, I'd probably say try some stores in this order: Dollar Tree, Dollar General or other dollar stores The toy section of the thrift store Hobby Lobby or Michaels
I do remember that when I bought those elephants, I bought every one they had because I thought they were a pretty good approximation of the proper scale for my other minis.

I have to agree with adamantine here. i have way too many undead for a guy who doesn't like undeads. but am missing a ton of dragons which i uberly like.
so i'd say you never have enough minis, but always have too mnay of one kind !

Included was a rhino, elephant and hippo that worked really well on a 2" base. I'll admit the elephant is a fuzz small but it's accurate enough!

I play 2nd Ed. BattleSystem, mass war game for AD&D, from 1990. I have more than 1,000 miniatures, in 25-28mm scale, consisting of too many armies to type. I have more than that in 54mm Army Men, as I game with them, but I also ran a Community Education class teaching how to game with them, and the Com. Ed. staff bought bags of figures, to hand out to students... They bought waaaay too many Army Men figures for my classes, and I have bags, and bags, of the figures sitting in storage.
Yes, you can have too many, but if you give them some table-time, then I say they are justified. If not, there is always e-Bay... Cheers!
