searched a bit around and didnt find any answers to this so um... how do you store your finished products? its easy to just put them in a box, but when it comes to miniatures (doors chairs pillars etc) or varying sizes of things like the large rocks dm scotty made, it wouldnt make sense to just drop them in a box. Segmented plastic boxes is a good idea but not everything fits properly in there and so some things just remain laying around with no place to store.. how do you guys store things?
many thanks

I keep boxes of various types and sizes; shoe boxes, Pringles cans, coffee, gift boxes, baby wipe boxes, milk crates decorative wicker sqares, plastic bins, metal Tazo tea tins and of course card board boxes. My long term scheme is to make all the boxes useable as terrain or some other useful game purpose as well as storage. I store pieces I make in the various containers. For instance I have a peanut can full of mini beds. It works for all sorts of things. Also I display some terrain on the shelves. The big sets like caves or such go in big boxes or bags.

This is the question that comes to us all. It is each individual's burden, a personal quest to find the perfect storage method. Or just let it pile up in the corner until rodents move it, then toss 90% of it out with the recycling rubbish and amuse yourself imagining the trash collector guy's faces as they pick through all the mini-dungeons.

I put the large stuff in clear plastic stackable boxes.

I find that the best, cheapest method of storing my crafted items is this wondrous material.. they call it Card Board, and it comes in these cube like objects I like to call Card Board Boxes.. they are lightweight, stack easily, you can write on them, they have these nifty folding flaps on the top that can be tucked over and under each other to make a basic seal, and best of all, I can open them out and fold them flat when I don't need them right away. I think they are available pretty much exclusively on planet Earth. As for miniatures, I use clear zip-lock plastic bags for large minis, and snap lock plastic containers for the small ones, which I label and store in boxes, all stacked and organised.

As AJ says, just boxes for your tiles. DM Scotty's method allows for quite flat stacking. For dungeon dressings and minis, use cardboard boxes and plastic containers as already mentioned. Hot glue some dividers in yourself and you suddenly have custom fit sections. Here are some of my boxes...

Im also currently using card board boxes. I have one banker box (10"x12"x16") and it holds 2 complete large dungeons. Only the bigger, irregular shaped tiles wont fit.
If you are making modular tiles, storage will be less of a problem, than making mostly unique tiles, like me.

As Cyan Wisp mentioned, with cardboard and a glue gun you can make boxes with custom dividers, exactly the size you need for your parts! For delicate items you can line the sections/dividers with craft foam sheets, cut to size.
I actually organized my kitchen junk drawer this way... I made a tray that fits the drawer, then cut macaroni boxes and plastic bottles to just short of the height of the drawer... Then I hot glued them into place. We have 2 bottle bottoms holding rubber bands and twist ties, for example.

Much to my wife's dismay, I store my stuff on the kitchen table, the dining room table, the top of the entertainment center, on the mantle, on top of the dish cabinet, under the bed, on the bed, on my work desk, on the dog grooming table, in the corner..... Suffice to say, I have an addiction...

The stored everywhere problem is why I always utilize empty decorative things. Empty wicker basket it now has three modular buildings under the decorative throw. The throw will be utilized as the fog of war.

I use big plastic totes for tile sets and I use smaller plastic containers from the dollar store for all the furniture/features. I then organize each container based on the type of furniture in there (Doors in one container, wood work like shelves and tables in another, etc.)
Minis are stored in ziploc bags in my Runebound and Descent boxes (the original games i got the minis for) and all my cardboard standee tokens are in my Pathfinder Beginner Box, NPC codex box, and Bestiary Box

Hang them on the walls in your play area (for the 2.5d tiles). Many I have seen posted by members are quite artistic and deserve to be displayed.
