Hey everybody!
This is my first post on this forum, so I imagine it ought to be an introduction.
A while ago:
As a teenager, I was an avid W40k and tabletop RPG player, but that more or less abruptly stopped when I moved to the US five years ago first to learn English… and then attending university… and then getting married… and you all know how life sometimes gets slightly out of control…
Fast-forward to the present:
I’m finally over with college, so I can "fully" give in to my crafting-wargame-RPG cravings (don't tell my grad school advisor; he thinks I'm ready to live in the lab). During my entire American life, I haven't been very productive and only painted the set Mines of Moria from GW that I grabbed on eBay a couple of years ago. However, I spent the beginning of the summer back home in Switzerland and fortunately had enough free time towards the end of my stay there to stumble upon DMScotty and DMG’s Youtube channels (Yay!!!). After watching their entire video catalogs, I just had to come back and craft! I ended up bringing back a few ideas and a large proportion of my minis of old, which had the consequence of making my baggage very heavy and prevented me from importing as much Swiss chocolate as I usually do.
Anyway, I'm about to start GMing for The One Ring RPG, but I won't use minis nor terrain for this first campaign as there is no way for me to get enough done before we start. However, I'll keep building my Tolkien-inspired craft collection until I accumulate enough pieces to be able to at least play combat encounters in 3D-2.5D. Furthermore, crafting is such a great mind therapy!
I've been lurking around this forum a lot in the past few weeks, and I can't tell you enough how excited I am about joining such an awesome community!
Cheers!
Mathieu
