Hi everyone! This is to show my stuff with some story telling about the game I'm running at the moment. This thread will be updated as the game go on. I find story-telling much more pleasant than simple craft shows (even if those are great! ). Any critique/ideas are welcome.
So, the party has been harassed by a goblin chief and mad alchemist named Kazzak. His tribe seems pretty chaotic as the enjoyed being burned by Kazzak's alchemical fires and all of his concoctions (home made rules mostly). The oldest party member (this game has had a few other players that left, so he's the only one from the original group) decided he had enough of this goblin and convinced the group to go to his lair and kill him. Kazzak has not been dealt with since day 1 and they are now level 6 (playing DnD Next ed), so they can expect a few "upgrades" in his armory. In addition to that, the PCs found a "dead" robot on the road between 2 towns with its path leading the way to the goblin lair. All of this showed that Kazzak has been busy and was in possession of something bigger, some information the players did not have.
*Just a bit more information on my world for you to understand what's going on: it is a medieval fantasy post-apocalypse world. The world is broken, but still in medieval times. Evidence of ancient civilizations show that they could have been much more advanced in technology, putting them in a steam-punk/renaissance era. The world is a deadly one and goblins are not those you find in the bestiary, they are deadlier, therefore higher levels.*
On their way to Kazzak's lair, they get ambushed by 12 goblins in the forest.

After a tough fight, they take a short rest and keep going toward the lair. When they find the cave entrance and 2 lazy goblins are guarding it. Using their ranged weapons, the group manages to kill them during the surprise round, making it possible to move towards the cave entrance. Inside, some goblins were playing cards and chatting when the group interrupts their happy afternoon.

The fight is much easier since they did not get ambushed, but Kazzak is somewhat aware that they are here. He speaks to the group via a steam-punked megaphone and ask them to come in and join the party. He seems to be very happy to see them, especially the character that has been there since the beginning. As they approach the stone door, the wizard and his 22 passive search finds a trap just in front of the door. After talking with Kazzak, the group understands that the only way to get inside is by that pit trap, since the stone door needs to be open from inside. They ask Kazzak to open the trap and the group jumps in, sliding down to land inside an arena of some sort. There, the group fights in front of many goblins and Kazzak what the mad alchemist has been cooking, or building: mechanical units of all sort.

The fight is a hard one since the room is filled with traps (see the fire wall? It is moving each round). After 3 fights with different traps and robots, the stone door finally opens and the show is over. The group rushes in to be able to get to Kazzak before he flees but fail to do so. They find an old book that explains all alchemical recipes known to mortal beings. Inside, an unknown writer talks about fuel, mechanics and magic that can eventually create warforged. Weaker versions can be crafted, but those versions will not have a free mind, being only robots.
The group goes up the stairs directly inside a training session of some goblins. The heroes can see 2 doors and a brigde that goes over an underground river, but they cannot see the other side since everything is dark.

Hope you like it! To be continued with the next session!
PS: It seems the forum won't let me put photos here. I needed to use flickr.
