Hello everyone! I've been watching some of dmscotty's videos over the past month and have decided to jump on the forums. Hoping to pick up some more tips, help, and a sense of community. I've only made two tiles so far, but I am already getting better at it.

Since everyone is being so kind and welcoming, I do have a question. Has anyone tried or considered using clear plastic bases for reusable objects like doors, pillars, rock piles, etc? If so, how did you do it?
My hope is that if I use a clear base for these objects, I wouldn't have to remake them when I use them in a different environment, such as going from a dungeon tile to a forest tile.

Have considered it, but I don't have any. I didn't follow through.

Funny you should mention that, I have been thinking about doing that for a few days now. At the moment, I paint mine black for the reason you mentioned. Great suggestion!

Another thought/idea. Has anyone considered setting up some sort of "lending library" for complete adventure terrain/tiles? Someone can create all of the props and terrain needed for a complete module or adventure. They play through it, then offer it up for anyone else who wants to run it. Ideally, this means you never have to make more than one module's terrain because you can just request an adventure afterwards. There would be logistics and record keeping involved. Shipping costs, etc. But you could place rules and such to ensure people do not abuse the system.
Jimmy: Hey, I just finished running Tomb of Horrors. It was great. Thanks Toby for creating these tiles! Toby: No problem. Just remember to update the group list so people know it's available. Jimmy: Oh! I will. I noticed that Sarah finished up Keep on the Borderlands. I'm going to ask her to ship it to me. Toby: Awesome. I played through that last year. Jimmy: It's great that I don't have to spend so much time prepping for an adventure.

Welcome to the forums! Hopefully you've had nothing but good experiences here so far, seeing as how these boards are full of friendly and wonderfully helpful people.
I don't know if anyone else has thought up a tile lending library before. It's an interesting idea but it seems it might be difficult to set up. Perhaps if you have the time and you voiced the idea you should attempt to do so. It would at the very least be a nice attempt for people who run modules.
