Well met fellow DMs, GMs, gamers, and crafters from all walks of nerddom. My name is Colin, but my handle for many a year has been Agamus. I began my dungeons and dragons adventures as many people do. I, along with my nerdy posse, found some 2nd edition books at a yard sale. We didn't have a dm back then, we all just read the books and tried to run our own games. Eventually we bought a set for the set that was current for the time: 3.5e.
Even then, I wasn't the dm. I always have been and always will be content to just be a player. I must admit that it is nice to only have to worry about being a player. However, my interest for D&D started there. Fast forward several years. I randomly run across the Acquisitions Inc videos and decide I'd like to play a D&D game.
I began as many dms do, with some grid paper, pencils (TWO colors of sharpie), and a vague idea of the rules. My first group played for a few months, but we all had to go back to college and work. It was another couple years before I had another group. This time someone approached me since I had some dming experience, which was significantly more than anyone else around. We'd sit in Waffle House and talk about the game at 3am for a long time before we finally got a group together.
This time I had a wet erase map and handmade tokens, so it was a step up, but I wanted to really make a step above the ordinary dm. Having a degree in music has left me with an abundance of time to fill, so I started looking at D&D stuff and came across DMScotty's fountain video. I went out and made it the next night. Much to my surprise, I found that I greatly enjoyed sitting in my workshop and working away. As I said, I went to school for music, but I've never been one for crafting and visual arts, so the time I've spent on these projects is basically the only painting and building I've done.
After I made my first couple pieces, I found my way to the forums. Rather than making an introduction, I immediately began posting away. Many of you may have seen my posts for my pipe organ, elemental gatehouse, Fire Opal Dungeon, and currently my opera house. I must say, it's probably the nicest group of people I've come across, and it is a pleasure to learn and share with all of you.
