Hello there everyone, I'm Will, and like you lot, I'm a thrifty crafter and modelmaker. I thought I'd say hello and introduce myself as it does seem quite an easygoing and supportive forum here and quite a good place to hang out and get some inspiration!
I wouldn't say I'm a beginner at making stuff, but I have enjoyed watching lots of the vids here and threads and I'm sure I'll pick up lots of tips that'll help me in my crafting. I am a wargamer rather than an RPGer (I used to years ago) so all my stuff is geared towards wargaming in various scales (mainly 15mm, but still do a bit of 28mm, mainly warhammer 6th Ed)
I also hope that I can help out and share a bit of my own knowledge of the techniques I've picked up over the years in making all sorts of stuff!
Thanks for letting me become part of your great forum!!
Will

I'm from the days of cards saying "Jones is acting strangely" in 40K. The newer editions seem to have lost the humour littered in the game.

I'm always pleased to see wargamers joining the forum. You could say wargaming is the old school of Roleplaying anyway, and wargamers have always made their own terrain, so there may be an abundance of DMs here, but wargamers are more than welcome! Also, there is some interest in 15mm sculpts and such, I'd be keen to see some 15mm scale terrain and how you adapt to such a tiny scale.

I used to do all my games in 28/25mm long ago, but as time went on, I discovered that 15mm was easier on my pocket! also they took far less time to paint and store, since I tend to have limited space to keep everything. Now modern 15mm stuff is well represented and pretty diverse, Its my primary scale, although I do still dabble with 28mm fantasy (WFB) Terrain is a lot easier to make, and a lot of stuff you'd use for 28mm figures are pretty universal for 15mm too (basic terrain bits) also it takes less time to finish (and again store, transport and loads cheaper etc) I do miss the level of detail you get with 28's and associated terrain, but I still enjoy making 28mm terrain bits from scratch, although its more likely these will end up sold or commissioned by my contacts. (I do lots of terrain jobs for people) heres an example of a 28mm piece I did: and an example of a recent 15mm piece: I typically have 3-4 different projects on the go, of which paying jobs are taking priority (I only recently started taking terrain jobs for commission, so haven't got too many decent pics sorted yet, plus some clients don't like me to show everyone the stuff I've made for them publically over the web!!) As regards the sculpts, I hope that at some point I'm going to get the time to create some fantasy stuff as I've got some mad ideas for a dungeon bash type game I want to bring out a range off old school races/adventurers/monsters etc, but I don't know when I'll get around to doing that!

Wow! The detail is superb on those builds, and I bet everyone just hovered the mouse pointer over the images hoping for a closer look, am I right? Welcome to the forum *rolls out the red carpet* I'm happy to hear your commission work is keeping you so busy. Money is an excellent way to keep artistically motivated
