So I've decided that I'm going to invest in papercraft minis for NPC stand ins, as some others here have suggested. The goal (for me) is specifically to get some medieval village or general use paper cut outs that I can use to fill out a scene, and use some already purchased minis (full 3D) to act as important NPC's
Problem is, I have no idea where to start. If possible, I'd prefer cheap as dirt or free printables, but I'm open to any suggestions this awesome board has to offer. Hopefully this query will be useful for others too

If I were to want to use paper minis, I might just do google image searches for the proper NPCs (townspeople, courtiers, guards, acolytes, wenches, whatever) and then just do a print of each image at the size I wanted with a mirror image so I could paste them back to back. I might even laminate them for strength, then I'd cut them out and mount them on bases.

Have a look at the One Monk website onemonk.com/Home.html and particularly look for Dyrws Gallery of Imperfect Creations. He has made a considerable quantity of Medieval folk that make great NPCs and best of all they are free. I use these figures myself and they are delightful.

google some stuff for Pepakura. It's like origami on steroids and acid.
I've been looking into it for some costuming ideas but have found stuff like space ships, vehicles, and buildings as well.

AS wildagreenbough says, One Monk is a good place to start, after that go to their forum, Cardboard Warriors. There is more great stuff there than you could shake a stick at! Plus the quality and generosity of the people there is equal to the people here.
