My group is about to catch up with a surly halfling that has been a pain in their butts. Being that they're homebase is currently in Hammerfast, I've made the fire opal dungeon the place where they catch up to him. I saw a map of it in Dungeone magazine and thought "Why would ANYONE MAKE A MONASTERY LIKE THAT, IT'S CRAZY," So I just made my own. I wanted to make it moderately sizable, and boy has it been rough making all this stuff. It still needs some painting, like with the shelves, columns, and oven, but it's pretty much all together now. 1. The central courtyard, it connects the East Wing, West Wing, Chapel, and Crypts. 2. The library, first room on the east wing, and a picture of the library floor. 3. The zen garden. Don't disturb the sand, you'll make the undead monks angry. 4. The barracks and attached storage room. 5. The first room of the west wing, a meeting room. 6. Attaches to the dining room. 7. Attaches to the kitchen (this needs the most painting). 8. Attaches to the garden and greenhouse. 10. Next the chapel... 11. ...and the Crypt, with the elemental gate room attached.

Wow, I love all this. I particularly like the zen garden. But it's all great. Your players must love your games.

I'm totally stealing the zen garden and undead monk idea. Dig it like a shovel!

The zen garden is tied with the organ as my favorite pieces in this one. At first I was going to have a fight in the zen garden, requiring them to move using acrobatics or stealth and trying to stick to rocks and edges. However, since we were running long, I changed it to a skill chech when movin through it. Failing it caused to monks to appear and attack, then disappear.

The Zen garden, the library room floor, the Elemental gate room, the organ, the garden vines (Spanish moss, right?). It's all wonderful. Lots of great ideas to steal! Good Work, dmagamus!

Really cool dungeon! I like the zen garden alot too, but my favorite is the library floor. I'm working on a papercraft inn with 2.5d floors right now, so if I can summon the patience, I may try to emulate that.

Really nice stuff. I can see how playing in that dungeon would be a completely immersive experience.

Great use of the stuff, dmagamus. Walmart also sometimes has stag-horn moss which is perfect for tree foliage.

Great use of the stuff, dmagamus. Walmart also sometimes has stag-horn moss which is perfect for tree foliage. I try to keep an eye out for stuff like that at walmart because it's pretty much the only place I've got. My nearest dedicated craft store is 30 miles away.

I know how you feel. Walmart is about 2 miles away down a slight hill, Michael's is in the same shopping center. But Joann's Fabrics and Hobby Lobby are about 5 miles away and down a steep hill, why is this a problem? I have no car and I ride an adult trike where I need to go, plus I have a heart condition which causes me problems if I over-exert myself. So...
I haven't yet seen stag-horn moss at Michael's.

I wish i still lived in Florida, i was in an area where spanish moss grew on all of the trees, i dont remember what time of year it was, but the stuff was everywhere. i had a teacher who actually collected pounds of the stuff to sell and made a pretty penny out of state!
