As the title says, I finally found the courage to register here and post. Part of that is being too shy to post anything, the other part was by the time I finally wandered to this magical place, I was chin deep in tax season, and frantically in the middle of building an 80 piece dungeon tile set for a Christmas gift to my older brothers. So now that all that craziness is done, here I am.
Hi, I'm Bronwen, Blackrose, or Rose (however you wanna chop it up). I honestly can't say how long I've been dnding or when I got into it. I just remember buying the Monster Manual I (3.0 or 3.5) book for my brother for christmas one year and constantly bothering him to play after that. Although I quickly discovered my brother was not the most reliable dm for sustained sessions. In 2012, after another campaign of his just dwindled off after four sessions I finally took matters into my own hand, hijacked his core books for 3.5 and gathered a handful of friends from my online gaming group and jumped head first into DMing. Never would I have thought that my first campaign would be still going to this day. Nor the amount of people I've brought into the fold.
Unfortunately I can't exactly make dungeon tiles for my current group, but after many hours of watching DM Scotty and the DMG, I decided to make a dungeon tile set for my two brothers (One being my Mentor DM and the other being the first party member I played with and learned along side with), as a combo Christmas/Birthday presents. Thanks to that, watching Dm Scotty and the DMG I've decided to make my own tile set and head over to the local gaming store to make friends and try and scrounge up a Local IRL table top group. Hopefully with increased presence there, some shiny crafty tiles the local table top community will learn that I know what I'm talking about, I'm just like any of the guys there, and Yes I am indeed as passionate about table top rpg's as the rest of them.

Shouldn't be too hard with your enthusiasm and some cool 2.5D tiles.

First off, hi Second - I love your name. I often use Bronwen or a variant for my NPCs, so automatic cool points from me.

Thank you Gertrude! It's been my nickname for so long I actually answer to it better than my real name.

I understand shyness is not exactly an optional attribute Thank you for registering and posting, very happy to meet you and welcome you to the craft. I'm very curious about this campaign of yours! My friend has been running one consistent world setting for years now (it even got destroyed and remade once, and our current characters are level 23 and fighting to save it from a cosmic cataclysm.. I even had a character go from feeble psion to a god-like figure whom we still reference in the game). Its so cool to have a cohesive and involved campaign history, something that really sets RPG's apart from other sorts of games I guess.

Welcome on board, Bronwen.
Can't wait to see your shiny crafty tiles! Don't be shy about them - this is one of the friendliest communities I ever encountered. No, scratch that "one of": it is THE friendliest community I know. :-)
And don't think even for one second that your tiles might not be "good enough" to post. Here you can even post craft failures and discuss about them. In fact, this is what sometimes brings more progress than posting successes.

Welcome to our magical realm of creations and ideas. As Tauster said, " Cannot wait to see ur shiny tiles (or dull if u prefer lol)". This forum is awesome. Every Lord and Lady here has great ideas and creative natures that inspire the rest of us.... . Even if u "feel" or "think" ur stuff is not good or great, or just need a few "Ideas" on something do not hesitate to ask us hear in ur new Realm. U will definitely get "Tips" from so many of us who were right where u r starting. When in doubt, give the DM's Craft a shout . As well, I cannot wait to see ur creations and the ideas that await us and blow us away!!! I took my crafted tiles and props to my game store and people were really amazed that it could be done with cardboard and glue-types and did not even know at first that was what it was made from.

Thank you DMScotty, Gertrude, thedmg, beerfrog, AJ, halloweenville, tauster, and dragon722 for the warm welcomes! I feel really silly for hesitating now. Exspecially since I had seen how friendly and helpful people have been in the threads I have been lurking around. Honestly a few years ago I wouldn't have been so shy, but in the years since I started branching out from the group I grew up with I've discovered that I was very fortunate to be part of an area where no one was treated differently because of their gender. Since then I've faced groups and communities that were wery of me, thought I had to be taught how to hold the bat, or just down right hostility towards my participation. Thankfully I haven't come across too much hostility, but it was enough that I've grown apprehensive. I don't think I can say how thrilled and excited I am to find a friendly community! Now I'm kicking myself for not posting sooner. @aj Honestly my campaign has kinda grown larger then life for me and my group. It started off as me taking the opening of the last game I played under my mentor. As I said in my first post, he wasn't the best about keeping sessions going and a really exciting story barely made it out of the gates. It was interesting enough that I "borrowed" the opening sessions and hijacked the town, npc's and all the things I had named for him (Up until this last session he had been used to dming for more of a hack and slash group, but I had finally come into my own that I wasn't settling for that anymore). What started as a crutch to help me get a feel for encounter set up, and dming turned from an experiment that I thought would only last a few sessions, into the beast of a project of creating my world Soreayon. I have a core group of six players that have been trudging through a gritty low magic, low wealth(at least in terms of coinage) horror campaign where the original group may or may not have released a centuries old Lich into the world. Hmm, though when I put it into a nut shell it seems rather a standard story, but the details get a lot more complicated and interesting. Interesting enough that my group has wanted to continue on and any time I elude to the closure of the campaign they respond with excitement and dread. Still crazy to think I've managed to teach 10 new players in that time. Even more so, I still can't believe i have a group of 6 core members and about 10 reoccurring guest characters x.x; writing about it makes me realize why my Mentor and brother says I'm crazy for herding that many cats. I can explain more if you'd like, but that may be a lengthy drawn out process. What might be easier is to provide this Shadows of Serenity Peak, the link to my campaign's obsidian portal page. The adventure logs are written from my character's perspectives, some of them are silly others are really well thought out and written. Unfortunately some of the characters decided not to participate in that activity. Now I'm super excited for tonight's session. @ Those demanding Pictures I'm not sure if this is the right place to post them, but I figure if I need to I can repost them in the appropriate thread. drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0z_dIc5EP2qWDZ1MnpoczVucUk&usp=drive_webEdit: I didn't craft these out of cardboard, because I know my brothers can be a little careless and soda usually finds its way on the table. So since I only see them about once a year now I made them a full set out of supersculpy oven bake clay, so they are more durable then cardboard and hopefully survive until next year's visit when I can do damage control.

blackrosebronwen ur game story is cool and ur created tiles r off the hook. Love the way the sarcophagus's / coffins came out. I for one have thankfully not had anyone spill stuff on the table, but i have alot of surrounding counters and side tables to put drinks and stuff on next to each player lol. Thanks for sharing ur creations and ideas. ur tiles came out beautifully too!

Wow, those tiles look great! Quite a stack you have there, I'd be keen to know what tiles are included in your set, and if there are any you still need to make or found were not used as much as you thought. Thank you so much for sharing with us

adrianmcknight Thank you! dragon722 Thanks, I personally my favorites are the candle holders, the doors and the stone well I made. Though I am really pleased how the marbly effect came out on the columns and sarcophagus'. I wish we had enough room for extra surface area but my brothers have always had their game room in cramped areas. Honestly I think the biggest problems is over excited dog wagging that causes soda/drink spills. @ AJ I crafted the set from thedmg's video about what you should craft for a modular set sans the last two larger tiles (didn't have a baking sheet large enough to make them). Unfortunately for what tiles see little use, I can't really say. I made the set for my brothers, which I finished about two days before I drove nearly 24 hours to go visit them for two weeks. Those tiles and props were their combined Christmas gifts/birthday gifts for the year. I almost kept them for myself, but I figured I could make more. The tiles we used were the ones in the last picture. Between playing Dresden, Starwars, and Clockwork Dominion while I was there, we only played for an hour or two so I only got a taste of the tiles in play. I do plan on making my own set, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to devote 200 hours worth of work again so soon. I know I could make them in smaller batches, but I tend to get hyper focused when I'm crafting, so it will have to wait till after my spring cleaning of the house. Hopefully I'll also be able to squeeze out a better crafting area besides a tv tray next to my desk this time.

Happy to make your aquaintance Rose! I personally emphasise to put drins far far away of the tiles, so that IF it spills, it won't spill over the tiles. This also tends to avoid any spilling by sudden flashy hand movements, so it's an effective way. This is a really neat, friendly community, so don't feel shy! Pull up a chair and listen to the tales of The Craft!
