I was wondering what common stuff hot glue has a problem sticking to. It doesn't have to come off like a pat of butter on an ear of corn but something there you can do some stuff with hot glue and use it.
I remember some time back someone made a hot glue spider web but forget the process.
I'm thinking of placing some of the glue on a flat surface to do something similar.

You can smear a thin layer of petroleum jelly on an old metal cookie sheet or wooden cutting board and hot glue over the jelly. THe hot glue will slide right off when dry.
You can also use wax paper and other nonstick cooking papers.

Thank you sir. Way cool, so I guessed right when I picked up some wax paper at the store. Knew it would be good for white glue coating stuff but wasn't 100% sure about the hot glue. Means that version 2 of my bugs will be better hot glue snow flake Sort of froo-froo but looks like an idea we can use..... Might be cool in a fountain or pond/water section of tile. With folks saying taht some of teh hot glue glows under a black light it could be used as a creep factor or letting a PC make an observation check for a beastie hiding underwater

yeah the water and some dish soap work like a champ, so far. I'm gonna let it dry for a while longer (maybe overnight). Also confirmed that at least the Ad tech multi temp glue sticks will glow under a black light. I wanted to make some structural modifications to my bugs. Might be cool to use a small black light and leave the antenna unpainted for the glowing effect

Silicone. They sell hot glue work pads at the hobby stores. They are like 8 bucks, but a 40% off coupon to save a couple bucks. My wife picked one up a few weeks ago. It works really well. I know some other folks use silicone oven mits the same way.

hehe, now my quest is going to be making round bits instead of them being flat on one side.
Looks like a chilly rainy day, so I am up for experimenting again..... Going to make a queen alien bug.

Not that it is particularly applicable, but I've noticed that hot glue will come right off wire, such as that you use for making jewelry.

Actually, Hot Glue will stick to wax paper. Parchment Paper, from the baking section of the grocery store, is what I used for making spider webs with ( link to my blog page on this topic). It peels off easily, and the paper is re-usable, many numerous times, before it needs to be replaced. Acrylic paints will also peel off of Parchment Paper, so it is a good surface to paint on top of, however the paint will come off in very lightweight, fly-away pieces, so beware. Cheers!

Sgt Slag, that tutorial is well timed. I just made some spider webs on clear plastic for a Drider Lair. I was out of plastic so I wasn't going to do any more webs. Now that I've seen how easy they are, I'm going to add more. Thanks.

I've done a few of the hot glue on wax paper now.... For this project at least I went back to making some thin paper towel/glue stuff.... but have gained some ideas for future products.
A failed project is not one that doesn't work. but one that you do not get better ideas from.
