I'm just waiting for the day where you master 15mm scale and then switch to 28mm... so much space! I am rather in awe of these tiny sculpts.

Thanks for posting all the progress pics, DMNate. The end product really looks fantastic, buts it's also great to see how it came together!

You might want to consider plaster or pewter casting. After all that hard work, you can use the cast to make some of these models en masse. Great for creating a custom goblin horde or undead army, or generic npc's. Just create the one or two base models, create a mold, and then have at it!
Of course, do a few test runs with a simple, undetailed model first, to see how the product works and how the minis turn out at that scale.
But super great work!

Seriously, AJ. 28mm seems so big now. I'm becoming more and more comfortable in 15mm with every model. The sizes I'm making aren't as consistent as I'd like, but I guess that's part of the learning curve.

I'd love to start making casts, but I'm not happy enough with any sculpts to do that just yet, but I'm sure it'll happen.

New Brute sculpt. This dude came out all sorts of mean looking. He's holding a hammer and has a shot gun over his shoulder. His legs turned out a little funny. It looks like they are really small, when really his upper body is just huge. I think he'll paint up real nice, though. He is wearing a gas mask, which is a little hard to see, but came out with some nice detail. I really need to get a better camera and make a light box.

Thanks. I really like how it turned out. My party wanted to paint their own characters, so I haven't bothered painting any of the other figures, but I'm hoping to get some paint on all these guys soon. I'm just having so much fun sculpting, it's hard to stop. I haven't even made any terrain for a couple weeks. Soon... soon... I have 3 modular sets designed that just need to be built. Maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow.

What is that 4 legged thing pictured above Ace?
Looks wicked cool man, great job...with the pictures you took I can see a chronology of your sculpting skills steadily getting better and better.

Thank you very much. ^_^ I need to sculpt more, but time never seems to agree with me. Although, I am feeling more and more confident with every new sculpt. Most are only taking about an hour to do where they use to take me 4-5 hours.
What is it? I dunno. What do you think it looks like? Some sort an alien, I suppose. I just threw some clay down and dug into it to see what I could find. I found that spidery alien thing. I suppose it was somewhat xenomorph inspired. I've been on an H.R. Giger kick, so I've taken a lot of inspiration from his stuff. Maybe I'll use it as a gorilla xenomorph of sorts. Maybe not. I haven't decided yet.

Dogs rule! If you ever try messing with green stuff, it's best to use sculpting tools. I'm converting some Imaginext cavemen into Fire and Hill Giants and using it to add details and fill gaps. I noticed that it picks up fingerprints really good and dries that way. I gotta get me some rubber tipped sculpting tools. You don't have to bake it either which is cool as well.

Yeah, I have some green stuff, but I don't feel comfortable using it for full sculpts just yet. I like the ability to set it down and pick it later. I often sculpt while at my job (at a call center) so I often have to sculpt for 3-4 minutes at a time, then stop for 10 minutes, then to start again. I do like green stuff, though. It's not the texture I was use to, so it kinda threw me through a loop when I first picked it up. That being said, I think I'll really like using it once I have more experience with it.

To call these 15mm sculpts is a little bit of a misnomer, as they'd probably work in a 28mm setting pretty well, but here they are anyway. These would be a couple fun projects for people just getting into sculpting. They are pretty simple to sculpt, and end up looking pretty fierce. This is an underground creature that works similar to my Kraken mini. It has a head and three tentacles. Each of the tentacles has an elemental trait. Acid, fire, and electricity. The head just likes to bite things. Should be a fun encounter. I'd be interested if anyone else used this idea, as I'm sure many elemental (or non-elemental, for that matter) traits could be tied to these tentacles. Please let me know if anyone comes up with some fun ideas. ^_^ Here is an acid monster. Sort of a gelatinous cube derivative. This one works by starting as just the puddles of acidy goop, but can then combine to make larger and more formidable enemies. It takes 2 puddles to combine into the little monster, 3 (or one little and one puddle, etc) to make the medium sized one, and 4 to make the big one. In my world, they will only be able to be hurt with fire/heat. Should be fun. (side note: To make them nice and glossy/slimy looking, I covered them in mod podge. Very effective and quick wet/slime texture and gloss.) Anyway, there they are. I was able to throw together both sets in about an hour (not counting painting). The tentacle monster took most of that time, as the fire and electricity gave me a little grief. Give them a try. They are quick, and should be some fun times. Happy crafting!
