The group follows the earth elemental through the tunnel and arrive in a cell in the basement of the temple of Lathander. The wizardess then sends the males forward into the shadows as she investigates the room. She finds a trap door in the ceiling and approaches the area underneath it... As she reaches the area underneath the trapdoor, bright light flashes from the pillars in the room and four radiant dwarven guards and a dwarven sunpriest appear in the room... The drow determine that the pillars are weakening them and decide to destroy or disable them... The party successfully clears the way for the rest of the raid force to sack the temple of Lathander and capture it's high priest, but the priestess of Lolth leading them has been slain? Was it fate? Was it treachery? Stay tuned for more Underdark Adventures! (My apologies for some of the pics being blurry) Hope you enjoyed it!

Taking a break to post and share what I have been up to the past couple days. I have been working on the tiles for the first few encounters from the Council of Spiders adventure (encounters module from summer of 2012) as well as re-working and rewriting parts of Keep on the Shadowfell and Thunderspire Labyrinth into drow based adventures. The basic premise being that the players are caught between Orcus and Lolth in a demonic power struggle as well as helping collect artifacts to be sacrificed to the Demon Queen of Spiders so she can spin her "Demon Weave" to replace Mystra's "Spell Weave" and take over and add arcane magic to her portfolio. Most of the changes are "behind the scenes" at this point but it still has an effect on everything that is happening in the adventures. It's going to be interesting to see what choices the party makes and how things play out. Our game is slotted for Wednesday and I should have some pics to post then. Stay safe in the meantime all!

And so tonight it begins...My group of intrepid drow adventurers set off to find out what had happened to a previous group that had been sent to the abandoned outpost of Sezz'ia and if need be procure the magic of an ancient altar and its divine implement for Lolth, the Spider Queen, to use in the spinning of her Demon Weave. Here the party has stumbled upon a cavern filled with several dead drow as well as the denizens that killed them. Here we see a Bregan D'aerthe mercenary, the lovely alu-fiend Khaele, has flown up and engaged a cave fisher spawn. As the battle continues, we see that Khaele continues to engage the Cave Fishers up close, while the draegloth, Urathaer has engaged an ochre jelly as well as another cave fisher spawn. The battle was bloody but the party managed to clear the cavern of all its denizens and proceed onward... ...and into an ambush by svirfneblin in one of their mines. Here we see Khaele and Urathear once again in the thick of the action, along with Zildrynna, the Inquisitor of Lolth (Hexblade), Nadryn, the nethermancer, Nal'tyrr, the assassin, and Zendina, the necromancer.... A couple of svirfneblin slingers pelted the party from range.... Khaele teleports down the hallway to dispatch a couple of svirfneblin miners while the rest of the party keeps the rest of the foul gray gnomes distracted... And the same part of the fight from another angle... The party managed to clear the mines of the dirty svirfneblin scum, and decided to take a bit of a rest before moving forward in search of the outpost of Sezz'ia once again.

I have loved every second of this... It's amazing my mind is racing and I love your terrain! All drow campaign is a great idea in my opinion considering I've been listening to all of R.A. Salvatore's books on audibles again (I've already read them).

Tonight our intrepid adventurers arrived at Sez'zia Outpost. They decided to divide into pairs to explore, and keep an eye on one another, while searching for the traitorous priestess Iyellle Faen Tlabbar...The two mercenaries from Bregan D'aerthe, Khaele the Alu-fiend and Nal'tyrr, went to the right while Zedrina, a necromancer from House Xorlarrin, accompanied Zildrynna, the inquisitor/hexblade from House Melarn, explored to the left of the ruined plaza. That left the draegloth Urathear and the nethermancer Nadryn to explore the middle....They noticed that there seemed to be light coming from some sort of flame coming from the far side of the plaza and noticed several shadows flickering upon the walls...Unfortunately the draegloth wasn't as quiet as he hoped to be and the hobgoblin guards heard him and investigated... Seeing the towering draegloth in the distance the hoblin fled back and warned its' compatriots.....The traitor priestess, from Faen Tlabbar, came forward with her hobgoblin guards and quickly ordered her men to attack the draegloth...A grand fight ensued with the alu-fiend first polymorphing into the likeness of the traitor priestess and confusing the hobgoblins, and them charming the real priestess and having her attack the hobgoblins. The draegloth waded into the melee with his claws slashing and slicing through his opponents while the magic users stood back and peppered their foes with ranged attacks...The adventurers managed to kill all of the hobgoblins and capture the traitor priestess. They then fpund their way through the obsidian wall and into the final resting place of an ancient primordial where they performed a ritual of Lolth and added the ancient power from this site to Lolth's Demon Weave.....Having completed the ritual the party returned to Menzobrranzan to report their success and get some much needed rest...(Again all sorry for the blurred pics, camera phone drives me bonkers,,,Hope all have enjoyed this series so far. I hope to post more in the near future. Thanks!)

I love a good, dirty, unfair fight!
The buildings look fantastic. I experimented, a decade ago, making buildings for my 54mm Army Men miniatures games, using similar construction techniques using corrugated cardboard, only much more simplified in the painting. This is really inspiring! Thank you! Cheers!

I love a good, dirty, unfair fight! The buildings look fantastic. I experimented, a decade ago, making buildings for my 54mm Army Men miniatures games, using similar construction techniques using corrugated cardboard, only much more simplified in the painting. This is really inspiring! Thank you! Cheers! Thanks! It was an experiment. It worked out ok, providing excellent funnel points and blocking line of sight for my players, but.... as has been stated before about 3d terrain.... it was difficult to move the minis around, ( and it was a lot of extra work) I think i'm going to definitely continue to build the 3d prop pieces, but I'm going to scale back on some of the tile bits (maybe) One of my players picked up some of the premade tile sets and donated them to the group for us to use so I may use them with the 3d elements from time to time (ignoring the grids of course). As to the fight it was interesting, and I think the wall bits confused some of my players in unexpected ways. The assassin, for example, was utilizing the archers slits in the building to attack the hobgoblins but forgot that he would also be vulnerable to being hit through the windows as well and got gob-smacked by a spear two different times almost killing him. The open "chasm" areas between some sections made for some interesting choices, and for once the alu-fiend was able to use her wings for flight. She was extreme;y creative with her powers and first polymorphed herslf to look like the opposing priestess and telling the hobgoblins that she was the real priestess and the other was an imposter, and then she reinforced the illusion by charming the real priestess and making her attack the hobgoblins, thus doing some damage and leaving them in confusion for a round while they tried to determine friend from foe. It was also our first session using the "Drow Treachery" cards, and those were pretty fun when they were used. basically they allow you to "mess" with your allies for either an in game benefit, a "worth" bonus. or both. ( Worth is the measurement we track to determine how valuable an individual is to their house or affiliation) One of the wizards "jostled" the draegloth in mid attack causing the intended target to become harder to hit in exchange for the wizard gaining a +2 bonus to hit on his next turn and a +1 gain in worth. Another allowed a player to "steal" a sip of a healing potion, recovering 5 hp for them but denying the char using the potion 5 points of their healing surge value. The game was quite fun and is scheduled to continue next week, so I'll be sure to post pics after that game!

That's what I have been doing. After I finish the Salvatore books I'm starting the War of the Spider Queen series, from what I have read it's a great series, imo anything Salvatore has a part in will be amazing...

Another week and another adventure with our intrepid anti-heroes.....Hung over the morning after the wild orgy of hedonism and debauchery known as the Ceremony of Graduation, our adventurers were rudely awakened and once again called to meet with their rather odd alliance of benefactors. When they arrive they quickly learn that one member of the trio, Hoshtar of House Xorlarrin, is missing and presumed kidnapped. They are sent to the ruins of House Srune'lett where the Council of Spiders, an association of rogue male wizards who foolishly think they will be elevated by the spider goddess Lolth to equal status with females with the completion of the Demon Weave, are rumoured to be hiding....
They stealthily arrive and the alu-fiend uses her polymorph abilities to appear as a drow priestess to attract the attention of some sentries outside the compound. She manages to charm one, while her Bregan D'aerthe counterpart slips stealthily behind the other and puts his garrote to effective use...Seeing the quick demise of his comrade the remaining sentry breaks free of the charm only to find himself also facing a draegloth, and an inquisitor with a shadow-formed 5 headed whip of fangs. The fangs of the snake headed scourge sink into the stunned sentry's throat silencing him permanently....
The group then heads quietly into the compound only to find that they are not the only ones who have arrived with an agenda. A couple of assassins have started slaying some of the resident wizards and then try to flee from our band of adventurers. They trip an alarm and several wizards begin teleporting into the now three sided conflict. The draegloth smashes through a door in pursuit of the enemy assassins which allows the Bregan D'aerthe assassin to quickly and effectively puts his garrote to work yet again...A mage vs. mage battle quickly ensues as our necromancer and nethermancer begin trading hostile spells with the enemy wizards, as the alu-fiend swordmage dances and dodges her way through the combat....More wizards teleport in and foolishly anger the draegloth. In his rage he firsts rips an apprentice wizard limb from limb before he turns his claws and fangs on the foolish master...
After completely clearing and searching the upper floors they decide to head down a spiral staircase......
....and on to next weeks adventure....

More great looking terrain! Thanks! Sad part is that I had a trio of bookcases that I made for one of the rooms then forgot to put them on the tile *facepalm*
