Hey everyone.
I'm new to this forum. I've been watching a lot of dmscraft videos over the past couple months and I'm very impressed. Although I have never played D&D before I am an avid board gamer. As a hobby I like to pimp out some of my games.
One project I am currently working on is trying to make some unique tokens for Terra Mystica. I found these glass beads at Walmart and they were part of a necklace. I decided to experiment to see how they could sit on a gameboard and I thought of just putting some hot glue down and then sticking the bead to it.
Now I don't know what to do. In the attached pic you can see that I made a messy blob for one and then a neat blob for the other. Some ideas I had were to paint the glue to make it look like a small cloud of energy as these balls are supposed to represent "power". For the neat blob I was wondering if I could make it look either like a liquid which the bead was floating or resting on. I'm not really sure so I thought I would ask what people in these forums would do.
I want to avoid making a large base because there could potentially be 12 of these beads sitting in a spot on a gameboard that is about 2.5 inches round. Large bases would not fit.
WHat do you people think?
*ok I'm not sure what happened I tried to add an attachment (jpg file) and it didn't show up. Now it says that this post exceeded the file limit or something...do pics show up right away or do they have to be previewed by a moderator first?

You have to use a photo hosting site, like photobucket or imgur, and then post the BBG code here. It's free and only takes a few minutes to set up. Look forward to seeing your project!

Here are a few random thoughts.
Painting Liquid: Get the color you want, and coat liberally with Modge Podge. It has an incredible sheen that looks very wet.
Cloud: Glue a tiny bit of cotton around the base, it will look smokey.
Cloud 2: Paint large spongy flocking (like used for trees) with white glue, then whatever smoky color you want.
Other base option: Small washers, glue to the bottom with hot glue or goop. A button would work as well. the washer only needs to be a small #4 or #6 washer probably to keep the bead from rolling. Then decorate as above.
