hey all, just wondering, has anyone tried to include a painting or mural in any dungeon tiles they have created?
A number of rooms in the Temple of Elemental Evil call for murals or frescoes along the walls and corridors depicting various bits of evil. I am thinking for these sections I can patch together some photographs of frescoes and paintings of various demons and whatnot (searching demon fresco and demon painting on google image search gave me a ton of material), and print the composite image as long strips for hallways. Maybe 1 - 1 1/2 inch tall, and then go over them with some watered down elmers glue on a brush to create a bit of a painting texture.
Thoughts?

If they have art for them in the module you could photocopy them to the correct scale then paint them with some watered down acrylics.

Sadly there is not a huge amount of included artwork with the module. Most of the descriptions Gygax gives are along the following lines: Not a huge amount to go on but I still want to detail it out as much as I can. I will play around with the murals I was able to pull from google and see what I can come up with. Worst case I can post some examples of what not to do

Perhaps a monster listed in the module will turn up some pictures on google. Print picture to scale and put it on the wall as fresco or art.

Remember, your players will only know what you tell them is there -- they won't know that Gygax said there was a mural of Creature A4, and you inserted a mural of Creature E3. Whatever you tell them is 'gospel' to them. That is one of the greatest secrets of DM'ing. I wrote that on the inside of my eyelids, so I would never forget it... Just kidding: actually, I tatoo'ed it because the pen ink kept running, what with the tears and all. Cheers!

Nice link. Looks like there is a ton of stuff there that fits the theme. Now I just need free time to burn

if you have modgepodge would be a good way to glue/seal it onto the tile as well. Sort of what its for is sticking one thing to another and sealing them
