Hi all - I found DMScotty's channel the other day and DEVOURED it. It looked like so much fun and I always enjoy more than just a battlemat on the game table. (nothing wrong with just a battle mat - it works great, but sometimes lacks a little ... something) Anyway, I haven't played in a few years (our group kinda broke apart, real life, yada yada). My only experience DMing was for two sessions in a pre-gen and it wasn't as intimidating as I thought. Well, now that I've been exposed to this style of crafting, I wanted to try it. I think the best way to get into a project is to have a goal in mind to work towards, so I've decided to come up with a campaign and try to get a group back together. So thanks for eating up my free time for the foreseeable future. I blame you all.

Thanks all I officially found my first cardboard supplier. The convenience store half a block away has a cardboard dumpster that I am free to pilfer from. Step one down.

I have found that since I started all this madness, I spend no time on computer games, I am eating better, more motivated, have a great sense of achievement every time I set a goal and finish a project, and all the feedback from you folks is really wonderful. Crafting is a pretty good hobby, I have to say, it agrees with me. Also, I have noticed a lot more attention from the wargamer community lately, which is great! It is fantastic to log on and see a few new members every day, and such a mature, friendly bunch, you all make this forum my internet hang out of choice.

Ima convince you that foamboard is the way to go. And modular dungeons. ;^) Lol. I love this forum. It's such a great place to get inspiration, feedback, and support. Don't be a stranger.

True story - I have been making a bunch of your modular cavern pieces and kinda love em. I'm totally on board with the modular thing and am eyeing your wilderness pieces and trying to modify your wall system for the tavern. Foamcore I am half sold on, but cardboard is plentiful and practically in my backyard any time I want it, so for now it's where I am at.

Go to dollartree and get one sheet of foamboard. You'll never go back. ;^) I've actually come up with a better wall system than I used in my modular building set. PM me if you're interested.

What I really like about the foamboard from most Dollar stores is the foamboard paper peels off really easily compared to what you get at foamboard bought at say Office Depot. Exposing the foam underneath!

What I really like about the foamboard from most Dollar stores is the foamboard paper peels off really easily compared to what you get at foamboard bought at say Office Depot. Exposing the foam underneath! Agreed. The "higher-quality" stuff is a pain to get the paper off. The cheap stuff peels right off, though. Makes it easy to get to the good stuffs. However, in the spirit of full disclosure, the dollar store stuff can sometimes be a little rippley or wavey. This won't matter if you're cutting it into small pieces, but can be seen if you're cuting out anything bigger than 6"X6". It's not a huge deal. But it is there.
