Hi everyone. I am an old fart. Started playing D&D at age 10 back in 1980. My teenage years were spent looking up armor classes and rolling dice while everyone else was dating and driving and enjoying the outdoors.
Now I am 43 and married. My wife loves Skyrim and Dragon Age, so when she suggested meeting some people to play table top games, I tossed the idea of Dungeons and Dragons out there. After she stopped laughing at me, I turned on my powers of persuasion (or was it a charm spell?). A month later and we are knee deep in a Pathfinder campaign at the local game store. She was overwhelmed at first, but seems to be having a lot of fun now.
I found DMG's youtubes and am now in the process of creating dungeon tiles. Once they are finished, I will be dusting off the old d20 and donning the DM robes again.
A DM has been re-born!
Mark

Can you now also discover what Robur stands for. One tip: It's Latin

Well, Robur is latin for Oak, so, I am guessing your name is either Woody, or cryptically.. Ash.

The Latin term Robur is indeed used in certain trees like for example, Oak (Quercus Robur) but the actual meaning of it is Strength. So my name would mean The Strength of 1999 for not destroying the world when I came to be

Welcome I'm younger than forty, but only until this coming May. and the real surprise...I'm not a DM at all. I play and have since my early twenties, but I like to paint miniatures and craft terrain and this forum was way too cool for school.

Time to introduce me, too. Im born 1973, live in Germany, and bought my first RPG-book (Das schwarze Auge) on a fleamarket around 1986. I painted a lot of miniatures, but stoped it because it gets to expensive. The last ten years I nearly stopped gaming, only sometime I manage to meet some gamers for some gaming. But I discovered crafting cardstock buildings/dungeons (Worldworksgames, Fat Dragon games, Ebbles). My son played sometimes with the cardstock dungeons and miniatures "No, Mr. Paladin, the evil necromancer is away. But you could sit down and drink some tea with the Vampire and the Minotaur..." Of course, some years ago we started playing more "real roleplaying." Mostly short combat scenes or Dungeon Crawls. Star wars, Fantasy (he played a vegetarian, antialcoholic dwarf mage/priest!) Now he is 16 and we play sometimes Zombie adventure with some friends. :-)
My daughter is 6 and she likes to play RPG after he play Zombie games-jealous. We went last year to the RPC Cologne-a large con and there was a lot where you could craft tabletop tiles. So she started crafting and at home she asked to build more stuff. So we started building some tabletop stuff, and while searching for cool videos about tabletop crafting I found Scottys 2.5D videos and started crafting 2.5 D. The tabletop stuff I crafted together with my daughter because She likes it. The 2.5D Tiles I craft more for myself but are happy and proud if she helps me - even if some of my tiles have floors with brush strokes wide enough that a hobbit could plunge down.
