Draklith, Michael's is like a second home to me lol. Love raiding the clearance stuff too. where exactly in which section/area did u find those blocks in? I don"t remember seeing those. wow, not sure they will be in the same place, but I found mine on an isle towards the middle of the store in the back by the kids summer toys...hope that helps

SAVED...
from the trash pile, to the D&D pile...nice
Lets keep all that cool Styrofoam out of our landfills, and put it up on our shelves (so our significant others can cry about it later )
I really like the idea, kind of a "mock" castle...like a "mock" turtle neck lol saved a buncha building ehh?
"...and to our adventurers great disappointment, after 3 days of fighting to reach the top of the castle wall, they discovered, there is no castle!" lol AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

no ur coloration and how it came out is off the hook dude! It looks like a legit ancient ass tomb long buried away and forgotten, until one day the unfortunate treasure seekers find the doorway...Clerics to the front. Ireally like how those sarcophagus's/ burial coffins came out too. U have just inspired me to create a new dungeon of my own lol lol, awesome...thx Dragon722
As much inspiration as this board has given me, sure am glad to give it back
The blocks are 15 bucks for a box of'em. I got mine at Michaels'. You can get a couple of builds outta one box depending on how high you build the walls. My DM makes me build to five blocks high, I guess so his big creatures can't see over the walls, lol

love the variety ... what scale do you play 28mm 15mm ? just wonderin? Hey Muze, I try to build to the same scale as D&D minis are made to, I think it's 28mm or 30mm not quite sure, however, sometimes I like to make things on a slightly larger scale in case the complex was made by giants or extremely large entities.

My first build with those pre-cut styro-blocks. Not sure if I like the finished product or not. Something about the texture
wouldn't be an ancient tomb without a secret door ehhh?

I love the articulation on the portcullis and wall. The flame a painted cotton ball ? Actually the flame is done with a Q-tip, the wooden kind found at drug stores...got the idea from this forum, HECK, almost everything I have done recently is from the minds of all the peeps here at this forum. (buncha sick dudes ) Cant really say enough, how much inspiration I have found here, so I'll say it again thx guys
When I did the portcullis, I used small pieces of aluminum tubing glued into place, then I slid the bars down and through each one of the tubes, so it kinda makes a metal on metal sound when opening or closing (unexpected sound effect bonus!!!) Also, when gluing the tubes into place, keeping them slightly irregular will hold the gate up in the open position without falling...
Built the shelf in front of the secret door that rotates with the door, because, I got tired of knocking everything in front of the door down when the door rotates lol.

Put this one together over the weekend...picked up some undead also, got'em all painted up and ready to kill
The portcullis rises and closes, there's a secret wall opposite the portcullis, and there is also a sliding stone wall...
included two levers into the build to activate doors, or whatever...
the bridge is removable, as is the sewer grate, I plan to make a couple different floors for the lower part of room to simulate water, lava, acid...or just as is
couple skeleton close ups...

thx guys, it took me forever to get the tiles cut and placed the way I wanted them...then, the paint I used, said it was ok for Styrofoam, and after spraying I stood there and watched smoke come off of the piece. So don't trust labels...paint small bit, wait, wait, then wait a little longer...see what happens
Oh well, gave it more of an ancient look in my book, even with the melted Styrofoam, LOL
