Finally a troll that looks like a troll!
As it turns out it's from a board game about ragnarok so no surprise it looks like a proper troll.
Still it's a bit pricy ~80 EUR when all I want is the troll - and ideally more than one, don't suppose they are sold seperately?

Any suggestions? I've got a couple podcasts I really enjoy but I've conquered the backlogs & it's never enough content. I haven't listened to an audiobook book in 2 or 3 years but I'll check em out if you've got a few favorites. Audio books; - The Dresden files [Modern fantasy], mediocre* writing to be sure - but between a captivating story and James Marsters soothing voice it's well worth you time. *) Jim Butcher (author) becomes a lot better by book 3-4, so its worth hanging in there even if it seems a tad banal at first. - King slayer chronicles, good well written books - now if only the author would get off stop playing D&D long enough to finish the last book xD - BBCs production of The hobbit & Lord of the rings, no clue if you can still get them I got them on casettes - Sherlock holmes also by BBC iirc, same isue with availablity Some books series that could be good ( I read them, but do not like the voices of the people reading them on audible ); - Wheel of time - Belgariad, Malloreon, Elenium, Tamuli, Belgarath, Polgara, Rivan Codex ... pretty much anything written by David Eddings xD For podcasts, that really depends on your interests - but some to try out could be www.youtube.com/channel/UCqoy014xOu7ICwgLWHd9BzQ (Cortex Podcast) www.youtube.com/channel/UCwez9XDNV_wS0WNDZteXjgw (hello internet) stealthisshow.com/And possibly something like Acquisitions Incorporated (http://www.acq-inc.com/portfolio?sort=asc) or critical role Ofcourse this is all acording to my taste so your milage may vary

Would have but it turns out that leaving a model primed on a shelf for 2 months makes it really hard to paint, next month I hope to have a model to enter

So maybe this was obvious to everybody else, but when my son wanted cobble stones like I had done on another terrain piece I had to get creative as he had a base of cardboard. A bit of dishwash and water ( not sure that was even needed tbh ) on the roler and an area generously smeared in hotglue; I very much expected to have to spend the rest of the evening removing hot glue from my roller but it worked perfectly, I will definitely be using this my self as it's a cheaper more flexible alternative to polymer clays

Sounds interesting - I've some experience 3d modeling, but none in doing so for 3d printing. If anyone could give me some tips it may just be what I need to dislodge myself from the creative rut I've been stuck in for the past few months

Got a whole pile of these ( elves, werewolves, minotaurs, knights, and two different kinds of skeletons ) I've yet to paint the because the kids immediately started playing with them - but my primary concern was about the "soft" plastic - I some in soft some in hard - the soft ones are a *much* harder plastic than bones/wizkids/D&D board game minis. Only the very thinnest of details even comes close to a bones mini in softness. The hard ones are so rigid that I think they may well break before they even bend a little. As the "hard plastic" ones are 2-3 times more expensive, I would definitively go for the soft version.

If you made the wash your self remember; A wash need to be really, really thin and have something to help break surface tension to let it creep into all little cracks and crevices ( a drop of diswash will do the trick ) otherwise it will only stain the entry of the crevice and dry there never reaching the bottom.
If your using a store bought product they you will need to tell us what you did when applying it.

I use a flat-ish tray with an air tight lid I got for ~0.5€ the paint is still usable weeks later, just make sure not to get paint too close to the edge of the parchment or it will creep below to the paper towel and leave a mess. If you avoid this then cleaning it is a breeze just dump the contents in the garbage and place new tower/parchment

Very much looking at this now that the price has gone down below $600. I am wondering about what to use for the software since everything I do now is free software. If you find something then let us know, been eyeing the Anycubic 3d DLP printer for some time now - the only two cons other than the price is the toxic resin and the apparent lack of Linux software. Where the first is something I could learn to live with the 2nd is a deal breaker.

I've got something to enter again :-) Just need to get the pictures taken. "Do eet!" I've personally lowered the bar considerably with a "so-so" paint job on a truly ineptly sculpted model So to everyone out there not daring to show your painted minis; They are properly better than you think, just post them!

They are about £2 on ebay ( www.ebay.co.uk/sch/u1rick/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= ) very much considering picking up a bunch for a simplified skirmish wargame I am creating with the kids - the bigger figures should be easier for them to handle. I'm a little concerned that it says "soft plastic" - if anyone picks them up lets us know how well they take paint.

You obviously take your photography very seriously, and it shows 😀
One thing you could try is tho position the front light in a 45*/45* angle pointing to him (Rembrandt lighting iirc)
Either that or a reflector to open up the shadow side a bit more.
Of course it's entirely possible you were going for a more moody look I wish case you and just ignore my unsolicited advice 😉 You can do that either way I just wanted to encourage you to experiment a bit with the (stupidly expensive) hobby

I like it, but I do think the paint job could do with a colour that pops a bit - maybe some selective yellow/orange/red glow to hint at the boiler?

I always assumed that the monthly painting competition required that they be painted in that month, if that's not the case I suppose I have a few older paint job I could toss in the ring.

You can see some of the "FGV300/Frostgrave undead encounter" I painted here: dmscraft.proboards.com/post/64809I added bases my self, and the more excessive rust is also added by me. I can honestly not recall if they came with bases or not. There are about 3 times as many as shown in the picture
